Re: Model shows
Hi Bryan,
Depends on what scale you are thinking of!…there's no 1/6th scale model shows that I know of up here in Scotland! although I could be wrong?….but if it's a smaller scale like 1/35th, 1/72 etc there are plenty of model shows on.
I have just recently been to see the biggest model show The Scottish National Scale Model Show on in Perth 26th to 27th April. There was only one 1/6th scale model of a SAS desert jeep (Dragon plastic kit) on show but the rest was mostly 1/35th scale, and smaller scales.
If your interested in any smaller scale model shows on up here, there are a few coming up in June, August, and October to….send me email to artmaniastudio3@googlemail.com
Yes it would be good to advertise Armortek 1/6th scale models at some model shows up here no matter what scales they put on……...with a banner or two from Mark.
Cheers

Re: Model shows
Hi Ian
yup, 1:35 was probably most peoples scale before 1:6th really got started, certainly with me !, it might be worth just going along and starting a new scale class !! there is definite potential, I see that I just missed the Perth one but I will pm you to see about the next.
Regards
Bryan.

Re: Model shows
There are a few guys in Scotland who collect 1/6th scale and there's at least one 'tank proving ground' just north of the border where DanDare goes to once in a while.

So, there are enough bods in your neck of the woods to get something going, you just need to get a shout out and see who'll turn up at a show or two. From little acorns and all that!

Re: Model shows
Hi Bryan,
Yes your probably right that most people's scale would be 1:35, although I was into 1/300th scale military modelling for a while before I jumped up to 1:6 Armortek stuff.
Yes I had thought of that idea years ago about taking along some of my Armortek kits to these smaller scale modelling shows but found at the time that there was know one else I knew in Scotland that was into 1:6th scale models. So I just dropped the whole idea for the moment!…..
But over the last few years I noticed there are a few more 1/6th scale modellers in Scotland that have Armortek kits, but never meet before nor anyone from up here at Armortek Open Day shows at their factory in Dunkeswell near Honiton, Taunton or at Bovington Tank Museum last September, which was a great show.
Yes the Perth model show was a good one, never been to that show before.
But one of the next model shows I want to see is in October here at the Glasgow Modelfest 2014 Sat 18th Oct.
(The best one day show in Scotland), to be held at Bellahouston Leisure Centre. Only because it's the closes model show to me in the Glasgow area.
Anyway nice to meet someone else on Armortek Forum from Scotland that's into 1/6th scale model kits.
Perhaps there is a definite potential to start a new scale class in 1/6th scale up here with help of course from Mark and Gill…..!!
Regards
Ian

Re: Model shows
Hi Pete & Bob,
Just noticed your comments on the Forum about Model shows up here in Scotland, at the time I was busy typing up my own comments to Bryan.
Good to see other comments on the subject matter.
I did not know there was a 'tank proving ground' just north of the border, sounds interesting, and not to far from Glasgow on the motorways.
Ardwell you say, must look it up and see there it is!
Maybe we could start a Scottish Armortek Forum section!!!!
Cheers

Re: Model shows
Hi Bob
I'm from bonnie Montrose !!, so its a good drive to the borders etc, even Glasgow is just about far enough these days but I'd be willing to go down with the tanks just to show and meet up with fellow builders etc, you must feel even more isolated up there in Moray !!

Re: Model shows
That's bad timing, I finished an eight week course at Montrose two weeks ago. Yes it's a bit lonely this far North.
