Be wary, scammers visitng these forums.

Post by Paul Cutler »

I posted looking for a motion pack for my sdfkfz 222 and received and email from an andersnautoshop@gmail.com. He offered it for $200 new. It's been over a month after I sent him money and no item, no further contact despite repeat attempts. With some research I've found I'm not the only one, this person has visited multiple forums with similar deals that are scams.

Be aware, I take it even if I don't get my $200 back its a lesson worth learning.

Watch out for people like this!

Use PayPal. They have always been good for this sort of thing. If the seller will not accept walk away. Maybe the motion pack for the next release 222 will be compatible. $200 seems too good to be true anyway. Also better I think to buy only for forum members.

I am sorry to read about this. Although I can never give 'cast iron' assurances, if anyone is unsure whether the person contacting them is genuine I can at least let you know if they are an Armortek customer and known to us.

It may prove useful to check an E-mailaddress on Google.
This specific address comes up in dozens of hits, showing the MO of "Mr.John Anderson".
The "for sale or wanted" topics on lots of forums appear to be his favorite hunting grounds.
Cheers,

Oh yeah, just wanted to warn others who may receive a message under similar circumstances! It could have been worse for me so I'm glad this is the first and last time I'll have to learn this lesson.

I did track down the whole story of this scammer but not sure what recourse I have if any. At least I know the IP and coordinates the emails were sent but not sure what use that can be.

If he's in the US and you have all those details you can raise a complaint with the FBI, go to their web site and look for the section for filing complaints. If he's scammed you over the Internet then that's wire fraud and that's a serious issue in the US. It may not get your money back but it'll sure cause him a load of trouble!

See here for a bunch of links, read the whole thread...

Sorry to hear of your problem Paul. If you paid him with a personal check, it might be a little easier to track him down, depending upon where and how he cashed it. But you should go to law enforcement with this. There might be some hope for your $200.,but regardless this guy is a repeat offender and needs to be stopped. Whatever information/evidence you have, may not seem like much but combined with info. from other cases on him, may provide enough pieces to the puzzle to ID and arrest him. Take care and Good luck.

Thank you very much. Did just that full report to the FBI including his IP addresses and Coordinates which have remained unchanged in his further emails making excuses for why he still hasn't sent the item. I hope this is enough to take him down. People like that deserve every ounce of punishment.
