Armortek Show - A Summary!

A week has passed since the show and we would like to thank you all for your very positive comments on here, via e-mail and phone. It would certainly seem that an excellent time was had by all and again we would like to thank you all for coming, and supporting the event to make it the success that it was.

We have now had chance to put together a summary of the day.

Competition Results

This year we were delighted to have the competition judged independently by two museum experts.

The Museum set a Treasure Hunt quiz which was won by the The Battson Family.

We would very much like to thank for their generosity, The Tank Museum, Paul Morris and Churchill Creations who donated prizes for the competion and quiz.
We would also very much like to thank David Fletcher for giving up his time to present the prizes and for signing the Haynes Great War Tank Manuals which were included in all the prize packs.


Centurion Raffle

The raffle was won by a Mr Newton-Pike, who was evidently delighted with his win saying
“I’m overwhelmed. I’ve never won anything in my life, and I’m extremely pleased to have won this fantastic model”.

We would particularly like to thank Paul Morris who freely gave his time and expertise to build and paint the model on our behalf.

As well as the 130 plus Armortek customers, friends and family, 79 models (which we think must be a record for 1/6th scale armour models in one place!?) the museum reported that hundreds of extra visitors came to the museum that day as a result of the event.

We are waiting for the group photos kindly taken by a photographer from the museum who braved the tall ladder to get us all in!

We will probably need a while to recover and catch up on everything here at the factory, however we would be pleased to know your thoughts on a future event at the museum. It was a first event of this kind for us and of course one can always learn and try to improve. We feel that we need more space and a bigger more challenging running area, however we would be happy to have your feedback. We cannot promise anything but we will see what can be done for next time!

Our focus now will be on packing and despatching King Tiger kits and 25pdrs, completing option orders and responding to your e-mails and enquiries. We will get to everyone who is waiting and are grateful for your continued patience while we catch up after this exceptionally busy period.

Looking forward to a repeat event certainly a better organised space with more run for running the Tanks within the Tamiya Hall, plus an outside area if the weather is good.
My feeling is that the Museum missed a trick by not getting their health and safety bods to plan a route through the museum so that we could have a Grand Run through, perhaps to be called the 'Swan' , to the Tank Story Hall, with an eye to entertaining the other visitors to the museum and to provide a real focus for their visit on the day.
If a commentary by a member of the museum staff could be provided to give a further amplification to the parade that would be fantastic!
A great day needs repeating!

Without question, yes do it again. Great venue and so well supported. It obviously worked well for the museum as well as for us. If doing this annually is too much then perhaps make it a bi-ennial event?

Hi Kevin.
Pleas don't say that we all just waited two years!
Have to say it was an enjoyable day and a truly great venue, however I still think there was something that bit special about going to Armortek for the open day, and I cant be the only one who missed rummaging through the special offer metal bins and of course the chance to buy all sorts from Mark and Gill on the day.
Nuff said.

The venue was superb and great facilities for duch a large gathering. I have never been to an open day at the factory though and would like to go there next time. Also would like to have access to parts jumble.

Maybe the answer is alternate venues - factory in even years and museum odd years. That would work!

Alternative venues is best. Also,next time can we park vehicles medel groups. All Tiger 1s together ect. Did anybody count how many Tiger 1 models present? Hopefully have my panzer IV ready next time.

The traditional 'group' photo was a little tricky this year, thank you to Marcin from the Museum who climbed high up a ladder to get this shot. Due to the layout and the number of models it was not possible to get all of them in, however more photos showing many of the others can be found on our Facebook page by following this link.
