batteries

Post by Martin Taylor »

I was about to place an order for batteries with Hardware Express as detailed and recommended on the Forum when I noticed that the height of their 24ah battery (again suggested on the Forum) is 176mm rather than the 167mm of the 20ah model it replaces.9mm is not alot but a quick measure in the hull shows that would be a very tight fit indeed under the main deck sections. It looks as if the only place these batteries could fit is transversely across the hull between bulkheads B and C. Has anyone got any useful experience or advice to share please....I don't want to get the higher rated batteries and then discover the problem! I am inmtending to fit the motion/sound/smoke/recoil electronics :?

hello martin,
I have attached a picture of those 24ah batteries that I have just put in a tiger 1, I had to lay them down as like you said they are quite high, I didn't catch which tank you were putting them in but on the tiger 1 placing them like I did just watch the turret turn motor doesn't catch the front battery, I just moved it to one side, also look out for the gun elevation motor, because it hangs down it can strike the batteries if they are not laid down or further enough back to clear the motor.
hope this helps you.

Thanks Chris,
It hadn't occurred to me that you could lay them flat! The tank is the Centurion. I previously built a King Tiger but that had plenty of room under the deck.
