Since the introduction of the recoil on our more recent kits, we have received some requests to supply the recoil for the 'older' models which were designed to take the blank firer.
There are two issues with this, compatibility and safety.
Compatibility
Because these models were not designed to take the recoil, they will need re engineering in order for the recoil to function. The complexity or otherwise of this depends upon the model.
Safety
Fitting a recoil in conjunction with a blank firer is potentially very dangerous.
We are aware that amongst our customers there are those with excellent engineering abilities who will be able to overcome the compatibility issue. We have therefore decided that if anyone wishes to engineer their own solution, we will sell a recoil kit to them, however we will first require a declaration to be signed and sent to us stating that under no circumstances would it be fitted to a tank containing a blank firer.
If you wish to order a recoil for an older model, please email us directly at
sales@armortek.co.uk and we will forward a declaration form to you.

Re: Recoil for 'older' models
Hi Mark
Perhaps you remember the help you gave me wiring up the recoil and latest sound unit on a temporary basis at your works.
This was put in a very old P4 made when you used to sell plans for them.

Take care when testing the servo is VERY powerfull.

Re: Recoil for 'older' models
Hi Graham, can you tell me the make and model of the servo used, and were you running it on 6volts?

Re: Recoil for 'older' models
The Armortek recoil system is supplied with the Savox SA1283SG servo, which will operate at 6V, though not in conjunction with the standard recoil system.

Re: Recoil for 'older' models
Adrian, does it come with a output arm and is it suitable for plugging into a Futaba receiver? It seems a little smaller than the Futaba 3006 24g torque servo that I am currently using.

Hi All
When I upgraded the sound and speakers I also bought an Armortek recoil kit to fit and compliment it. The new sound system and recoil are a "wow" at exhibitions. (All the children duck)
