Can someone explain why the bogies are not right/left handed or am I missing something obvious? My limited mechanical logic had assumed that swing arm A (with the twin raised lever arms) would always be at the leading edge when mounted on the hull but as the bogie assemblies are not "handed" this would appear not to be the case with swing arm A being at the rear of the assembly when mounted on the left side. A simple not too technical explanation would be much appreciated, presumably asymetry is a key design feature?

Re: bogie design
I guess it's so fewer unique parts need to be made and so parts are interchangeable between the hull sides.

Must say I sympathise with Martin - I too was surprised to see the bogies non handed. Mind you I have yet to get up close and personal with the real thing. Centurions are few and far between over here

Gentlemen
On all the Centurions that I examined and all those that I have photos of, the bogies are not handed. Why would they be? There is no design or operational advantage to having handed bogies. Manufacturing and maintenance would both be simplified by having all bogies the same. That applied to the full size tank and it applies to the model.

Thanks all. No criticism real or implied of the kit Mark which I knew would be accurate and correct! I was just interested in why the original Centurions were designed that way and the minimising of different spare parts + no mechanical benefit are convincing arguments!
