Smoke Gun in Panther
Hi guys,
I will you present the First working Smoke Gun in the World ( i think so) in an Amortek Panther
The Panther was bild by Chris Fry since 2007/ 2008 . He Sold his Panther in june Last Year.
I have some modificated at the Panther. The Panter has tree 20 Ah batteries and a Alpine Soundsystem with 200 Watt Sinus. New soundbox and a working recoilsystem for the maingun.
The next step was a fireing system for the Maingun kombinated with a recoilsystem. I work 5 mounth from the idee to the Finishsystem on it. Last Weekend Olaf and i we make a Short Videoclip of the Smokegun. But the Weather was bad it was cold 2 degress and windy.
Here are the Video

Thank you for watching and a special thank for Olaf for his help with the Video

Hello!
impressive!
I am working on a Tiger 1, 2012 and would be interested in such a system.
thanks

Fantastic Dietrich!
This is definitely a first! It really adds that extra dimension to the gun shot.
This is something I have been thinking about for a long time, but my own tests were disappointing, to say the least.
I know that you are not supposed to ask a wizard about his tricks, but I am really dying to know how you did this!
Cheers,
/Chris

Dieter,
Outstanding. This is something I have given much thought to for many years but could not work out a method to get enough "POW!" into the ejection of the smoke. Please explain how you have cracked this problem.
You need a working turret extractor fan to stop smoke leaking out of the cupola!
Very original! Kudos!
cheers, Fabrice

Re: Smoke Gun in Panther
Hi Guys,
many thanks for your interest and watching. I am very pleased that you like my smokegun. I understand your desire for more information.
But it's very difficult for me to translate the technology from German into English. Maybe someone can help me he can speak both languages well to translate the technology into english.
But there are some parts that I have not yet found nowhere else where. These need to be replaced. The parts are coming from medicaltechnology and i taken the parts from defect medicalsystems. The Gunsystem must be adapted to every tank. You need a milling machine to mill the smoke unit. I would make a plan of the Smokegun and the new smoke unit. This plan with measurement/ pictures / order numbers, etc. can anyone from this forum from me. Interest please Pm with your email address and I will send the information in the coming weeks when i have found someone to helps me. Or i must taken a translaterprogramm but i can not guarantee, however, that's all true.
Sorry for my bad english I hope you understand me
Dietrich

Deitrich,
More and more mysterious! You have captured all our attention.
Have you created a smoke-burping Frankenstein tank from a dialysis machine and an enema bag?? " It smokes..it is ALIVE!"
You will have a PM very soon from me.
cheers, Fabrice

Re: Smoke Gun in Panther
First of all : I know it is easier to criticize than doing things properly. And my skilfulness is so little that I could never make such a mechanism .
Looking at the video I noticed the smoke comes out before the recoil starts : this is not correct.
Can you manage to get the right sequence of the actions (i.e. shot, recoil, emission of smoke)?
Many thanks for the attention

Re: Smoke Gun in Panther
Pierluigi,
To my eye it looks like Dietrich's "blast" of smoke before the recoil is trying to mimic the explosive departure of the shot itself, the muzzle blast, rather than the post-recoil venting of residual smoke from the gun tube when the breech is opened to eject the empty shell case. Yes, it is a little slow-motion,the recoil could start closer to the smoke effect, but some physics defeat our best attempts at scaling-down. To me, it feels in the right order:- Bang(light+soundFX+smoke) then Recoil. It is down to inertia after all.
I am not certain how much smoke was created in real life by the "smokeless propellant" devloped for the Panther's 75mm gun. Some accounts say that it was hard to spot a Panther firing from a distance, which gave the crew a second opportunity to fire before relocating, or just the chance to remain undetected for longer.
cheers, Fabrice

Hi all is Not a Problem to change the sequence. You must take it on the radiocontroler you need Same channel more vor the System. It is Not operate with an 6 channelradiocontroler I can programm my controller ! Switch Down Out Switch in the Center Smoke come Switch up position shot and recoil it is easy

Re: Smoke Gun in Panther
Hi Fabrice
I am not an expert about weapons but I think the bullet works like a cap so until the bullet leaves the barrel the smoke can not escape out of the barrel.
So if we had a very slow motion video I think we see the large amount of smoke coming out of the barrel when the bullet passes throught the muzzle brake. I mean this should be the sequence of events : ignition, expansion of the combustion gases leading to the contemporary recoil start and bullet run, at the end of the bullet run inside the barrel (when the recoil is almost completed) there is flash , bang and smoke emission.
The post-recoil venting smoke –as you write- is residual and only when the breech is opened to eject the empty shell case
This is only my thought ... and it could be wrong
Yes, you are right. When we look at the IIWW videos we see only a little amount of smoke but we know a large amount of smoke is highly spectacular in our meetings.
Cheers

Re: Smoke Gun in Panther
Hi Dietrich.
I would like providing my tank with your smoke gun system.
Have you planned to make this aftermarket?
The recoil system is that one provided by Armortek?
Regards
