Hi Armortek fans and owners
Just wanted to start a thread on what to experience on the Open Day in September at the Bovington museum, not having been at a Armortek open day event before.
I have looked at some of the youtube videos and it looks fantastic.
Things to hear from earlier attendees could be:
- Do you battle tanks vs tank - shows etc
- Are there plenty of accessories to buy
- Are there good offerings on new/used armortek tanks so that I need to get the big money with me
- Do people connect up and share information on Armortek, i.e. if you have questions
- and so on and so on
please share what you have experienced being an attendee before
cheers
Steen

Re: So - what is an Armortek Open Day
Hi Steen.
This year will be different, as it is being held at Bovington, rather than the factory, so we will need more information from Gill etc as to what is being organised.
Regarding the previous Open Days:
- Do you battle tanks vs tank - shows etc
Not really - people do run their tanks, plus there's the challenge of the Armortek Proving Ground track, but there's not that much room at the Armotek site once all the models are in.
- Are there plenty of accessories to buy
There have usually been a number of people there - Dave Dibbs, Tim Catton, Lee Sellars to name a few. Barbarossa Books was also there one year.
- Are there good offerings on new/used armortek tanks
There has usually been one or two specials from Armortek - prototypes, test machines etc, plus people have advertised their own models as well. I bought an Flak as a result of an advert placed at the Open Day.
There are also the bargain bins from the factory production - overruns, Friday afternoon parts etc
- Do people connect up and share information on Armortek, i.e. if you have questions
- and so on and so on
That's the big reason for going - to catch up with other builders. Some of the visitors aren't big users of the forum, so it's good to meet up with them.
Adrian.
