Tankies: Tank Heroes of WW11

Post by michael hilton »

Sunday evening BBC2, 2100hrs, Tankies: Tank Heroes of WW11. A two part story of six men from the Fifth Royal Tank Regiment during the Second World War. Good on details, German ergonomics and unseen letters and diaries. Should be interesting, Mick

Concludes tonight 2100hrs BBC2, with the Fifth RTR being re-equipped with brand new Cromwell tanks, fighting in Normandy. Archive footage and first hand testimony from surviving veterans......Mick

Good to see Tiger 131 from Bovvy in action in the film.

All the tanks in the reconstructions were Tank Museum running examples, as far as I could tell. I guess it was filmed somewhere behind the scenes at Bovington?
Good to see Normandy from the British perspective.
