Tow Cables

I tried the vinegar soak for my T-34/76 tow cables and they turned out great. Before I try and "retro" my Panther cables, does anyone know if the vinegar will attack the painted surfaces of the cable eye and collar?

If its mild steel or galvanised eye then then you don't need the paint because they turn out great. If its stainless steel eye then paint is needed. Dunno if vinegar effects paint tho. There's a sure way to find out! !

I soaked my Panther tow cables overnight in the white vinegar bath and hung them to dry this morning. The painted eyes were NOT affected at all.
