Early Tiger 1 Available for sale USA

Post by Ron Rothell »

Hello,

I am posting to see if there is anyone presently looking for a Tiger 1 Early model kit, the first Tiger 1 offered by Armortek. It has been under construction on my behalf by Pete Fertl in Chicago, IL. USA for some years along with his many projects. It has some very special accuracy upgrades performed exclusively by Pete, i.e., road wheel modifications, turret modifications, replacement aluminum rear deck, lowered rear deck, Hull floor-panniers’-swing arm plating, and more. The man is passionate re accuracy of detail, as many of you are aware. I chose the right man for the job!

Also acquired from Pete is his absolute gem Barrel & muzzle brake part, a small work of art in itself.

I have Vince Abbott's highly detailed Early cupola replacement, and his excellent Front Sprockets replacements, as well as a large variety of his detail parts, including the Escape hatch, Rear tool box set, Solid Steel Replacement Swing Arms (Set of 16), Rear Deck Replacement Coolant / Fuel Caps, Exhaust Shroud set and many more smaller detail parts.

From Mike Standard, I have his excellent Front and Rear mudguards, and his Turret Storage Bin [both built by Mike], and 6 prism set.

Finally, I have John Goodes' most excellent jewel: his 1/6th all metal highly detailed Machbach engine - I know, wow!

No smoke, turret traverse, gun recoil, or running motors sets.

I am soliciting offers at present. Please email me for more info, I will obtain photos from Pete as soon as he can provide them [the man works at his job with almost not relief!]

Hello again,

To avoid the great amount of detailed correspondence that would be required otherwise, I thought it would be a good idea to further clarify where things stand, as I have received a number of emails and private messages inquiring re select detail parts prices and availability.

I will most likely divide the sale of the kit from the accessories, and give the person purchasing the kit first say as to what parts he may wish to purchase. As soon as it is clear exactly what parts are available, I will post them in a separate posting along with prices.

I cannot commit or set aside any parts at present, so rather than contacting me now, please check back on this forum over the coming weeks for updates as to the parts status/availability. Thank you for your cooperation, will keep you posted.

Hello again,

I am awaiting pricing from Pete Fertl for his work on the kit to date; he has had some personal matters in addition to a heavy work load that has delayed him accomplishing this for me. As soon as I receive this information, I will contact the persons interested in the kit package first, and then post any individual parts that may be available for sale. I apologize for the delay, will post as soon as I have the info.

UPDATE 9-15-2012:

Have spoken with Pete this week re pricing and shipping, and he stated he will have more time in the near future to dedicate to the kit sale and shipment. Pete has a great deal of experience with shipping kits and components to all points of the globe as many Armortek owners have shipped items to him for modification/improvements over the past years. This should ensure the kit will arrive to the buyer in good order.

I have inventoried and inspected all the detail parts, so I appreciate your patience as to the delay in final pricing information. Once I have the information, I will contact the various persons who have contacted me re the kit first, then having determined what if any detail parts are left, I will post these at that time.

I apologize for the delay, but I finally have pricing for the kit with modifications to date, and options available to any prospective buyer. I will contact the persons who have inquired in the past months with the information. If anyone has not contacted me for pricing, please do so at this time if you are interested in the build.

This is one special build, Pete being extraordinarily passionate re build quality and detail accuracy, along with very reasonable labor charges.

Very sorry for the long delay, but we can now move forward with the sale.

NOTE: I will be posting the detail part list with pricing soon; I have most of the item prices, but cannot find the cost for 4-6 items. Will make up a price if necessary.

Thank you for your patience,

Ron

Early Tiger 1 kit and detail parts sale update 10-30-2012

Post by Ron Rothell »

I have contacted all persons who were waiting for the pricing, and will allow some time for these interested persons to respond. I would give first priority to any all-of-the-above buyers, then to kit only/all detail parts, and finally detail parts purchased individually. I plan to offer John Goodes' Maybach HL 230 P45 on a sealed bid basis, the exception being the whole package sale.

USA interested buyers take note: the asking price for this kit, mostly built with amazing detail and accuacy improvements and outstanding build quality is just slightly more than the current price of the Armortek Tiger 1 kit in the box. You would also save a signifigant amount of shipping cost as well. Also, it may be possible for you to take over the build and finance the cost over some months, making it more affordable than a kit purchase.

If you want to add option pacs, Pete and his assistant have the abilities to bring the build up to running status, so those lacking the building skills or time have the chance to participate in the hobby.

The Early Tiger 1's were the most menancing and heavily photographed, the particpants in most of the heaviest fighting of the war, including the famous Kursk tank battles. The dished roadwheels, drum cupola, turret shape and details of the historic tank are captured in this build. Anyone who is passionate regarding the Tiger 1 would be thrilled with this Tiger 1 build. It will be amoungst the finest 1/6th kits when finished - don't let this opportunity pass by.

Email me at rrothellsb@aol.com for pricing lists if interested.

Re: Early Tiger 1 Available for sale USA - UPDATE 12/2012

Post by Ron Rothell »

UPDATE re EARLY TIGER 1 SALE STATUS:

After posting my Tiger 1 for sale, a spat of others selling their builds occurred, many apparently experiencing finacial distresses, as these are economically difficult times for many. Along these lines, those who had expressed interest were not able to commit, even considering the value represented taking when one considers the exceptional quality and value of this item. Vince Abbott's detail parts are on a level all by themselves.

As I pointed out in my previous postings, this is an exceptional build, with many accuracy upgrades and refinements, with a very high degree of attention to detail. Pete has invested the wealth of his knowledge and skill into the build, producing an outstanding result thus far. This build is for the person who is passionate regarding accuracy of build, not just a running model and especially passionate for the Early Tiger. The Turret and Road wheel CNC work were substantial, and the results are outstanding. Very few Early Tiger kits have this level of historical fidelity.

I have therefore decided to keep the kit and continue the build, the only exception being an individual who meets the description I outlined above, fair-minded and highly valuing the exceptional level of quality and detail of this build. If you are that person, please email or use the private contact feature here on the site to contact me.

In summary, I am now only taking offers from such persons, who wish to take over the build themselves, along with the detail parts, or have Pete continue in their behalf. This would allow the buyer to finance the purchase over an agreed amount of time, only needing to 'buy out' my investment to date, and this can be financed as well.

I apologize for the frustration experienced by some who contacted me re select detail part purchases; it was a process to sort out my ambivalence whether or not to break up the kit from the detail parts. The problem was that not many persons are now building Early versions, so taking the best parts away from the build would greatly diminish the accuracy factor realized thus far, negating the integrity of the great efforts invested, ie, the Turret, road wheels, deck work, etc., and leave many detail parts orphaned.

Thanks to all, contact me should this build be what you’re looking for.

Regards,

Ron
