ROLLED STEEL EFFECTS FOR A T34/85
Hi All,
Moving on from doing some welds for my T34/85 kit, I had a go at creating a Rolled Steel Effects on the lower hull. Front and Rear and Hull sides. First markings look strange, but once I went over the markings burnishing these effects down a bit and when painted it should look a lot better by the time a give the lower hull a few coats of good paint job!
Hope you guys approve?

Re: ROLLED STEEL EFFECTS FOR A T34/85
Hi Guys,
I had a go at giving my T34/85 kit Lower Hull a second coat of paint primer job, which helps to blend in my Rolled Steel Effects a lot better now. Just need to add a few layers of nice Russian tank green colour! any suggestions in what final colour of green for the finishing coats! before I create the weathered effects on top?
Cheers

Re: ROLLED STEEL EFFECTS FOR A T34/85
Thanks Bob,
For your encouraging comments. I just need to try a few final top layers of 'green colours'!
Any suggestions from anyone out there that have already used green spray paint for the T34, before final weathering stages?
One never knows how the Rolled Steel Effects would look like, until a few layers of sprayed paint is added on top. At one stage I was worried in case I over done it!
Time to move the lower hull back to the up right postion and add back all my suspension and get on with the upper hull areas!
Cheers

I have to agree that that's a very effective finish, and well in keeping with the overall coarse finish on the T34.

That's where your local Halfords comes in handy
Adrian.

Re: ROLLED STEEL EFFECTS FOR A T34/85
Thanks Arian,
I'm assured by you guys out there, in my attempt at creating my Rolled Steel Effects for my T34.
Using my big drill gun a BOSCH for deep cuts on the metal and using my smaller Dremel for smaller marks and for burnishing over the rough ares.
Yes it was the effective finish I wanted for the overall coarse roughness in keeping with the Russian tanks from that period! and must say I'm pleased with the results so far!....
Yes I must widen my search for bigger cans of that special green colour at Halfords, I'm sure they have a good range of car paints that would suit my T34.
I have bought two smaller cans of Humbrol Hobby Spray Acrylic "BRUNSWICK GREEN 3" to try out test samples on the underside of the T34.
Cheers

Re: ROLLED STEEL EFFECTS FOR A T34/85
Hi Ian'
I agree your steel work effect looks great
RE Halfords Green.
Vauxhall "Leaf Green" is what I chose for my T34-85 as a Base coat, then I used
several differnet greens for my air brushing and weathering.
Keep up the good work
Cheers
Phil

Re: ROLLED STEEL EFFECTS FOR A T34/85
Hi Phil,
Thanks for your kind comments on my steel work effects....I just knew you would be replying back to my questions on what base coat paint to used on your own T34.
Okay I will check out Halfords Green colour 'Vauxhall "Leaf Green" and try out other greens to, before I air brush and weathering.
May I say your work on your own Tiger tank is coming along well too, I keep an eye on what you are creating with this kit, great job, I enjoy watching, following your builds.
I have a Mid-Production Tiger 1..... which I will return to.....to finish off some day, but first the T34 keeps me busy for sure!
Cheers

Re: ROLLED STEEL EFFECTS FOR A T34/85
Thanks Ian,
I forgot to say,I sprayed light coats at a reasonable distance to help
keep the gloss level down, which I didnt want, but it was handy using
what is already available.
Cheers

Re: ROLLED STEEL EFFECTS FOR A T34/85
.....Yes good idea Phil,
I'll keep a reasonable distance when spraying outdoors to keep the gloss down, weather permitting!
I've checked out Halfords in East Kilbride, just outside Glasgow, so I will call in to see that they have the Vauxhall 'Leaf Green' which is listed on the car spray paints.
Thanks again for giving me that colour from Halfords.
Cheers

Re: ROLLED STEEL EFFECTS FOR A T34/85
According to www.halfords.com, East Kilbride and Rutherglen have two tins in stock each and Hamilton has three tins
Good luck with the painting
Adrian.
