New Sherman Book

Post by Robin Hinson »

Hi,

As a follow up to the Tiger 1 Haynes are about to release the Sherman Owners Workshop Manual. It is due to be released in April priced around £21 but it can be ordered through Amazon as a pre-order for £14.29. If this book has been mentioned before sorry I must have missed it. Just thought it may be of interest.

Regards to all

Rob

Thanks for posting the pointer Rob.

There was going to be a second volume but that seems to have been dropped as there is no mention of it on the Haynes website and I received an email from Amazon telling me it was no longer available.

Hi John,

Long time no speak. As it is wet & windy this morning I was browsing the forum and have been reading your build of the Firefly. You seem to be getting on well with it, looks as though it will be an excellent build. We are still progressing with the Diamond T truck & trailor, have changed the suspension, have completed the rear ballast box and am now working on the cab, bonnet and wings etc will be posting some new photos shortly. Went up to Calne recently to meet up with a chap that has two Diamond T's, a Rogers trailor, D7 & D4 bulldozers, Willys Jeep, series one Landrover, several veteran cars all in immaculate condition, all of which he and his dad have resrored. Guess what he's also restoring a full size Comet !!!!!! and has a brand new Meteor engine for it (and he's only in his 30's). Waiting for delivery of Tiger. Will be at Shepton Mallet Exhb at the end of March. Happy building, all the best for now.

Dennis.

Amazon tell me my Haynes Sherman book has been despatched ahead of schedule :D

Sorry John, I missed your comment - the AFV Modeller Sherman book still seems to be "Early 2012". They'd better hurry up or it'll be "Mid 2012" before they know it.

Sherman books must be jinxed - the update to the MMiR Sherman book never materialised :?

Hi Adrian
Had the same email from Amazon, my copy is on its way, yes! Hope it's worth the wait.
I think mid to late 2012 should be on the AFV Sherman book!

Making slow progress on the build. Trying to perfect my brass making/soldering skills!

Regards
John

Mine arrived this week as well and I have to say I'm much more impressed than I was with the Tiger book :D

Lots of information and loads of photographs I haven't seen before.

A couple of mistakes with the photograph captions but that's probably only because I know the tanks in question.

It does need a bit of an air before reading - maybe it's the ink which is creating all the positive vibes
