To all;
My friend Sam Wright is about to launch the first digital magazine dedicated soley to sixth scale armor. Sam is very astute at digital magazine development and wanted to gauge interest in his publication. Presently, the cover and articles are simple mock-ups prior to production.
The magazine will include history of both tanks and profiles of companies currently in the business of providing products for the hobby. He will also be looking for feature articles on many of your projects and profiles on many of you builders. He is well aware that many of you do fantastic work.
If you are interested in subscribing or contributing, please email Sam at:
Sam-w@cox.net
As with any new venture, knowing who is interested would be a great impetus for getting this magazine up and operational. In the meantime, if you want to check out Sam's sister magazine for scale aviation, go to:
http://www.scaleaviatorint.com/
The 1/6 scale tank magazine will be very similiar in format. So c'mon guys, let's show Sam that there is serious interest in what he is doing for the hobby and get him launch his first edition sooner than later! This will help the vendors buisnesses grow along with the hobby.

Have to agree Lucien, Sam is a top bloke and passionate about modelling. I too urge everyone to support what could be an excellent magazine.

I agree as well
it is a good thing for any hobby to have a dedicated magazine you only need to pick it up to find the things we all search for, for our models, perhaps some body at futaba or hitec or some other transmitter manufacturer might take the hobby more seriosly and produce a dedicated hand set for tanks ,i am sick of going thrugh heli modes and plane modes on these receivers
good luck to sam wright in this new venture .all the best ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,nick

Re: New 1/6 Scale Digital Tank Magazine
It's an interesting idea and, for $27, I'll happily sign up for a year, but I wonder about the long term feasibility of it ?
The only "paper" magazine I take is "AFV Modeller", and to be honest, there's nothing in there that isn't also available for free on PlanetArmor or any number of other user based forums. The only reason I still get "AFV Modeller" is because it's nice to have something to actually hold and read outside on a sunny day.
Most of the articles are written by well known names, the walkarounds are usually by Chris "Toadman" Hughes, and the reviews are very similar to Armorama or the Perth Military Modelling sites.
The beauty of a forum is that, if I have a question about any of the build threads, I can ask, and then everyone gets to share the answer. They can also be country or language centric.
If this magazine is going to be 1/6th specific, what about the quarter scale guys, or the 1/16th ? The "RC Tank Warfare" site gets way more posts daily than here, or the UKTC or even SAG.
As far as advertising goes, I wonder what the comparison is between the number of people who manufacture scale propellers and those who make front hatches for a Panzer IV ?
Very few people exist in the hobby as "distributors" and, it seems to me, those people who actually manufacture the parts have suffered badly at their hands at some time or another.
On a recent thread over on the SAG forum, only 2 of the 7 links to parts manufacturers still worked.
For someone considering entering the hobby, it would be good to have a point of focus but I would hope that no-one would spend thousands on a 1/6th tank simply on the basis of glossy review in an online publication.
Sorry if this sounds overly negative
Oh, and I too would love a tank-based transmitter system, rather than Heli or 'Plane. As long as it's not finished in DPM-95
