Ultimate Panther/Jagdpanther Build
Hello, made a start on my new tank. Long term project. Will be an 'out of the box' build as I do not have the metalworking skills or equipment for upgrades. I tell you what though, I was unable to lift one of the boxes, when they arrived last week. Had to await my future grandson-in-law visit at the weekend, for his help.
Spraybooth, installed in the garage, ( Armortek packing box). Workbench cleared, it has begun....
Excited or what......Mick

Re: Ultimate Panther/Jagdpanther Build
Hello John, no don't think so. I know Gill and her team worked overtime putting it all together.
It is the Ultimate Panther/ Jagdpanther Variant , the Panther hull with three variants. Produced in 2010/11.
Anyway, I am delighted with the speed that Armortek packed and shipped this kit. I am still on cloud nine.
Kit number 35, I have been impressed with the Jagdpanther, and wanted to try my hand at German armor.
Can't get to sleep at night now......
Best wishes...Mick

Re: Ultimate Panther/Jagdpanther Build
Looking forward to keeping up with your build. Will it fit on the trailer. I have started tinkering with the panzer iv. Not building. Just working out how to add details on a tight budget. Came up with some interesting options for castellated nuts in a range of sizes. Nick has not left much for the rest of us to do.

Re: Ultimate Panther/Jagdpanther Build
Hi Michael.
Nice to see another Panther/Jagdpanther build, The kit builds into a wonderful model without any additional work and its also worth noting the size of the hull ( I think only the king tiger is bigger).
Regards
Steve

Re: Ultimate Panther/Jagdpanther Build
Hello John , I believe it will fit the trailer, if I reverse it on....long way from that though.
Hello Steve, I was very surprised by the weight, I will be very pleased if the model from the box, as you say, builds into a fine Jagdpanther. I know there are some very commendable and painstaking builds on this Forum. I will keep within my limitations, and enjoy myself....Mick

Re: Ultimate Panther/Jagdpanther Build
Hi, I used lithium grease. Think I got it in Halfords.

Re: Ultimate Panther/Jagdpanther Build
Thank you for advice John, I had thought that rubber/plastic needs a special grease, do you use this lithium grease in the steel on brass bearings ?
Stripped the hull, and started spraying with acid etch....I think I will fit the '0' rings, greased into the hull sides, before I attach the hull sides to the suspension bars.....Mick

Re: Ultimate Panther/Jagdpanther Build
Hello lads, at the risk of sounding dense...I am about to make a start on the suspension. I have read the instructions many times....and I believe I understand the build process, for example, what goes where and in which particular order.
I have used the search facility, trying to find information on the 'Torsion Pivot Special'.
So, in the suspension build, the question is, why are some Pivots 'special', and why are they different to the other Pivots ?.
I can obviously see the difference in the shape of the two types of pivot.
I have four 'Special' Pivots, and twelve standard Pivots.
All will be revealed......I hope.
Mick
