Hi again,

Thanks Lee, Nigel and Brian for your fast reply, much appreciated.

However I have now 3 different numbers...

Lee: 3.48mm
Nigel: 4.08mm
Brian: close to 5mm

:?

According to Tim’s measure on Littlefield’s Panther the height was 31mm and that will be 5.16mm in 1:6th

Why I am asking is because the caps I have from the first Panther batch the height is only 2.5mm.
I struggle if I shall customize my own set or buy a new set but if the height varies as above suggest I don’t know if I will.

Anyhow thanks for your time guys.

Kind regards
Kent

Hi Kent,
I have just measured my hub caps and they are just over 4mm in height as best as i can measure, so i guess Nigels measurement is acurate. It is worth noting that the new hub caps are slightly to flat in profile and require building up to the correct profile. I think as supplied the hub caps are close enough for me as to get them truly accurate would require a huge amount of work.
Hope this helps
Steve

Hi Kent

Over a year ago, I created them in 3D based off measurements I took from the Littlefield Panther but there was no interest in them. Could have them made without too much trouble. I am in the process of gathering many of my Panzer IV, Panther and Tiger parts together for use as possible masters for metal castings. Perhaps these could be included on the list?

here's the series of photos and measurements I took at the time

Hi Tim,

Oh yes I remember that drawing of yours.
That is how I would like them to look like spot on.
That groove and accurate height makes a huge difference.
IMHO those caps make the Panther wheels and at least for me are well spending work hours and money to achieve.

I believe the discussion regarding them halted as the ultimate Panther kit was released and a promises to
make better hub caps.
Well the hub caps do look better this time and now I only have to decide what way to go to have a set of perfect looking ones.
Tim if you can make them for maximum £10 / hub cap in any material fully functional and well fitted to the wheels I am in.
That would save me a lot of time better spent on other things.

Kind regards
Kent
