DAK Flak 36

Post by Adrian Harris »

I was lucky enough to purchase the 88mm which Peter Shaw had for sale at the Open Day, and have picked it up this week.

I'm doing the usual rounds of book sellers but would be interested to know which of the 18/36/37 guns were used by the DAK ?

Do their active dates preclude the use of a '37 or were they in service by then ?

Peter had added quite a bit of detail, so I'm still looking through the manual to determine which bits are his and which are Armortek :?

I doubt I'll be doing any work on the gun till next year as there's so much to research first

I'll get it out into the sunshine and post a few pictures.

Adrian.

Adrian,
very nice aquisition! The weathering and faded paint looks perfect to me. I wouldn't change anything. I wasn't aware that Peter built kits, I've only seen his scratch build wooden masterpieces. Now you just need a prime mover to tow it!
Best regards,
Bob

I thought so too 8)

It's difficult to say whether the colour scheme is due to painting effects or natural weathering.

It's obviously been standing for quite a while, as there's rust on some of the steel parts and some of the shafts have seized.

I was thinking of replacing them with brass parts, but I'll have to be careful with any work I do as I won't have a hope of matching the existing paint scheme
