Forum sections

Post by Armortek »

In response to John Sander's question 'Will there be different forums (sections) for different models?'
we thought we would ask what you would all prefer as this is your forum!

I am going to set this as a poll - please add your thoughts and opinions and we will base our decision on the majority view.

thanks

Gill and Mark

Hi Gill
I think It would be handy to have sub sections for each model
and an area for general info and chat.

Hi Gill, I think it would be a good idea to have each model listed in its own section, although if you used SEARCH on the old forum, it listed the results in date order

great new website

Jeff

As there are often shared components among your different models, I would like to be able to easily view comments that may apply to one model even though they may have been posted under another model's subject matter. Placing each model's comments in a separate section only means lots more work going through all the subsections in order not to miss something. I assume we'll still be able to search by keywords and subject matter anyway. Therefore, I have voted for no separate sections.

I voted yes, but at the same time I support the thoughts from Doug. Some kind of cross-reference search possibillity would be very useful.

Cheers,

My two pennyworth.

The search function on the board will allow users to find postings relevant to their query. It can function within a forum topic, or across the entire board. One clear advantage of having a structure is it can avoid having to browse past pages of postings that are not relevant to a user's interest. You will find that 99.9% of all forums have a fairly wide structure. If a model is the most common, it is probably because it is the most popular.

PS great to have an Armortek forum that accepts right click spell checking! Thanks guys. Google for ieSpell if you are looking for such a (free) tool.

I think it would be a good idea to have a section for each model, but also to keep the general section for the stuff not particular to any model.

I've always been in favor of a separate section for each model. Who knows, maybe in ten years we'll see 20 different sections! :D An off topic section would be great too. Exciting new forum format, nice job Mark and Gill!

A good idea, I agree. And as Rich mentioned an off topic area is a real good idea.

Well with 83% in favour I have just created all the new categories!

We will leave 'Armortek Owners' for now to cover all general discussion, on or off topic.
