I will be going down to the Tank Museum at Bovington, after the Armortek open day, on the 10th September. Wife willing , I will be taking photo's of some of the tanks. If anyone would like particular shots of any of the tanks or fittings, let me know, this week, and I will do my best to oblige.

I would be in your debt if you could get a good side view and a couple of top views with a scale of the T34 85 tow hooks. I especially need accurate measurements of height and base dimension. Whatever you can do will help.

I have lots of photos of Bovington Panzer 4 and T34/85. I will wait untill i get home on Friday before trying to upload them!

I'm going on an access all areas tour, at the Bovington TM, on Thursday morning.

This might be a bit difficult but if at all possible a right and left side shot of the Jagdtiger gun breech block would be fantastic please if you can I would be very greatful.

You may already have them but I'd love some shots of the Panzer IV final drive gear, from behind the sprocket and from the front and sides - so standing in front of the tank and looking towards the inside edge of the sprockets.

I'm trying to meld some BKA running gear to Armortek hull plates and they seem to be somewhat different in alignment

If possible:

T34 85
1. Vision slits dimensions on the turret and are they the same size as those on
the comander's cupola? And how many slits are on the cupola?
2. Pistol port plug diameter
3. Bolt dimension of those big bolts all over the rear armor
4. Dimensions of the equipment storage box on the left front mudguard

An apology, forgot to take the second list of things to measure on my second visit to the T34.

But could you answer a question. The T34/85 and the Panther, are adjacent in the museum. On looking closly at both suspensions I noticed that they both had a piece of steel welded to the body, at the hieght of the top of the tracks. What was it for?

Hi John

I think you will find, in the case of the Panther, they are track pin deflector bars for pushing track pins back if they come loose. This is so they don't hit the edge of the armour and bend. The T34 looks a bit more crude, but could be the Russian “agricultural” version?
