Anyone know the builder?

Post by Steven Ford »

I would definitely buy this sort of thing:

Deliciously complicated.

How many channels to operate everything? Wheels, steering, steerable water jets, HIAB, winch, bilge pumps, lights...

Hi Steve
The builder is Robert Hinton.
Likes to build amphibians, and does it very well. All the models I have seen from him have been working.
He an old school builder, usually from scratch.
The stolly is of wood construction with many working features including four wheel steering, lighting and hyab which uses remarkable miniture electric working electric linear drives that look like hydralic's, lifting the load on and off the load deck easily.
The stolly was featured in a Model boat mag a couple of months back.
hope this helps.

Thanks John.

I have just Googled the name but nothing comes up so far.

If you know him or happen to bump into him perhaps you could ask for some photos showing the interior and constructional details and post them.

I will carry on looking round the interweb.

Steve

Oh Yes!

I do like that.

There's a lot of books about the Alvis FV series and about the RR B series engines that went in them - totally fascinating. They don't build 'em like that any more - which is a shame but understandable given the cost and reliability.

Thanks for the post.

Steve
