These new parts were inspired by Stephen White's idea of how to produce barrel rifling, I had been trying to figure this out for a long time, it was really simple, but I never thought of it. Thanks Stephen, I owe you. Let me know if you need something.
I have made up two sizes, the 88 mm and the 75 mm as these are the most common size needed for the Tiger 1, Tiger 2, Panther, Jagdpanther, Panzer IV and 88 mm Flak at the pre-cut sizes. They can also be used on other tanks and guns by trimming the plate if you want to, or fitting as is as they are so close to other size barrels the difference is very small in 1:6 scale.
The 88 mm size can be used on the Comet, T34-85 and Firefly. The 75 mm size can be used on the T34-76 and M4A3.
I am offering these parts as a flat plate for you to form or made up as a plug to fit. The plugs will only be offered for the 88 mm and 75 mm sizes. Drilling of the barrel or mussel brake will be required to fit the plugs.
Sorry the plates are no cheap, but they are expensive to produce for this small market. Each plug will take over an hour to produce and have been priced accordingly.
The plates are photo-etched on .020" soft nickel silver, even this is not soft enough to bend easily into a tube, I have annealed the plates to soften them more. This can be easily done with a blow torch, heat the plate until it turns pink and then allow to naturally cool to room temperature. Nickel silver has a high tin content so can be easily soldered.
The plates are in stock. Plugs will be made to order.
