Futaba Receiver (RX) - Futaba R617FS 7-Channel 2.4GHz FASST

Post by Jan_Donadoni »

Hello folks,
here's the next question. The transmitter (7C) is great, but the receiver? Yes, it is a 7 channels receiver, but channels 7 is also for battery, so actually only 6 channels remain free for servo operations, or where am I wrong?

It's different with Spektrum DX7 systems which use a 7 + 1 (battery/connect) receiver.

Jan - socket 7 provides both power input and channel 7 output. If you use a Y lead, you get both.

Futaba 7C & Y leads

Post by phil fitzpatrick »

Stephen is right Jan
Y leads are a great bit of kit,Ive used Y leads and Y sockets,I think the
Y leads were cheaper.
I've got Y leads coming out my Y leads,3 in use for my MG's and Main
Gun Flash.
A Y lead in channel 7 assigned to Switch G to plit up my MG flashing
guns and I use Channel 6 using the VR knob for traversing my Hull MG.
I havent done yet exploiting the potential of these great radio's.
My Gun recoil will be controled with channel 7 with a Y lead and with
switch G but interlocked with my Main Gun flash set up so that they
dont interfear with each other.
Plus I learnt from Robin that using an extra receiver is no problem and
opens up other avenues :)
Cheers
Phil

I knew there had to be some solution. Indeed I thought about an Y harness could be a solution, but I am not in electronics, so I could not understand how it was possible to control the servo, since I thought the battery would interfere with commands.
So now it's only to get a couple of additional receivers.

Hi Jan
Sorry I might have confused you a little bit I think.
To use Channel 7 use a Y harness like Stephen said, but then you need to assign a spare switch to channel 7,switch G is what I used.
You do the assigning like you probably assigned your Switch E to
Channel 5,you dont need any extra receivers.
Cheers
Phil

I am not exactly sure about this but I have a feeling that 5 volts comes down the leads from the Amortek speed controllers etc am I right Mark ? If so there is no need for a separate receiver supply cable.

hello Dennis... indeed the receiver is powered by the armortek unit, BUT you still need a port for the connector on the receiver. The Y cable should be the right solution.

Hello guys,

@Jan, Y-cable is the right solution. However, every channel on the receiver can be used as battery connector.(you still need the Y-cable if you want to use 7 channels) You are not binded by channel 7

@Dennis, the older Armortek models are as far as I know not fitted with the so called BEC system. I have one of the first Panthers and I need a seperate receiver battery.

Hi Marcel,
You can buy a BEC or UBEC as we call them now. We have one marketed in the UK that drops the voltage to 5 volts from a maximum of 40 volts, only about 7 euros, you perhaps have some available in Holland.

Hi Marcel,

Is there anybody left in Holland, only we are down in France with the caravan for 5 weeks and every site I have been on, all the people I meet are from Holland, very nice people I must say.
The site for UBEC is www.gobrushless.co.uk, type in ubec on the search panel and then click on the ubec selection it is £6-99 in the UK. Hope this helps.
