Hi Stephen thanks for the info,I was thinking they might be used
perhaps in the day maybe with the hatches closed and Tanks in
view anyway,aswell as the none tactical situations.
Do you think a lot of crews removed the drivers mirror for the
same tactical reasons or they just got broke off.
A lot of the photo's just show the sprung bar sticking up

Phil - I hope you didn't mind my post, I felt a bit guilty afterwards, last thing I want to do is pour cold water ..... The interior lights were known as inspection lights and that was their main use - to illuminate areas of the tank to allow the crew to do the first parade inspections ie the before action service, which would be done in a hide out of sight of the enemy and probably under cam nets.

Yes, I'm sure the drivers' mirrors would have disappeared quickly. Sun glinting on a mirror could bring a lot of disappointment in tank's direction. They probably had to be fitted for road moves in rear areas. For the same reason, the spotlight would be covered.

No need to feel guilty at all,the only way us new be's learn is by
posting and getting reply's from more knowledgeable people,and
learning is all part of the interest and experience.
I was quite good at stripping my weopons in the dark and tuning
the C42,B47 and A13 radio's,but the procedures of the armoured
vehicles I'm not up to speed with.

Hi Phil, if you are ever in my neck of the woods and would like to do some period footage with your comet just give me a couple of weeks notice and we will sort something out, as regards to weathering your model you can pm me for some general easy wash and dry brushing techniques, no heavy stuff though and it's all removable if you cock it up.

I got the Tool inspiration from Nick when he did his Panzer 111,some
are bought and some made.
The nets I learnt to make off YouTube vidio clips on rabbit net making,
and addapted the procedure to flat nets,thousands of knots.
I Thought that the Comet with its bins was made for filling and one of
the good books on the Comet,even lists the Kit out for each bin.

In the book they called it "Injector lubricating Pom Pom" and goein the Big right hand bin.
Dont know why they couldnt say grease Gun.
There is loads of other kit which I cant find yet,like the Bren Gun and
portable cookers,Jack and handle plus the oil cans,I can do the rags
Have to have another search around.
Did some more weathering to the Hull tonight,Its coming along.

At last I have my Pillow Block back and my new turned part so I can
crack on with assembling my recoil system
