To much smoke

You can see the lack of exhaust pressure on the video that I have just posted (Tiger1 towing Tiger2) as the Tiger1 powers up the slope with sixty odd tons in tow the real thing would have been flat out in 1st gear maybe not producing a smoke screen but certainly producing many litres of gas with soot and a visible heat haze, I feel the liquid paraffin smoker although producing a fair amount of real smoke with two fans just gives it all away.

Phil you are are apsalutely right,and great vidio's of your Tiger
towing just like the full size and in black and white just like real
time footage.
Watched them all several times.
Until you see what looks like a couple of little fellas hiding in the
exhaust stacks having a quick Woodbine

You are right with the smoke and spot on with your vidio's,but
you might have to look out for some 1/6 scale weads to put in
the grass

Your quite right those 1/6th scale snowdrops are buggers and and and the bloody birds are going crazy singing bless em, but if you slow the audio track down the birds song sounds like track squeak....there's always a plus side!

I was asking myself : is really smoke too much?
That is, a factory fresh tank, has its motor in perfect condition, so with as little as possible smoke, but what about a battle weary tank with thousands of km on its tracks and engine? Tank crew would do as much maintenance as possible on the field, but some work needs a proper facility. Also, these facilities are available in central Europe, but not in far away theaters of operations like Russia or northern Africa or south Italy. Already in northern Italy the situation was pretty poor (just one facility able to give major maintenance to tank engines). So I believe that some tanks, most of all those modeled to look "battle weary" should emit quite a lot of smoke.

Your quite right Jan ref a worn engine producing a lot of smoke but you are missing the point of the thread, we have lots of smoke from our "smoke generators" it's the quality of the effect that's not good, we need more pressure to produce that 20ltr + engine gas/exhaust volume, we have now achieved this with large blower fans.
I have now fitted a 100mm 1.2amp blower fan similar to Marks new outfit and this now looks pretty convincing.

Ok, I am understanding finally (or at least I hope to understand).
You are looking after a big blast/cloud at engine start, is that right?

That's right but mainly lots of relative pressure as the engine runs faster more volume of gas ie in our case lots of air and dilluted smoke, now the new T34 that's a different mater that engine produced clounds of diesel smoke just about all the time so that will be interesting to replicate

The ideal would be a big starting "Buff" pretty dense and white, thereafter a large volume of high speed/pressure smoke, is it right?
Maybe a higher flux vent as yours should give proper result. For the big starting cloud maybe you could install some kind of laminated valve. If i remember there were such valves on the intake of 2 stoke motors in the late '80es.

It continues, the next project...........I've been studing the way the tracks kick up enormous amounts of dust in very dry environments, so I have been experimenting with introducing smoke from the exhaust generator directly on to the tracks via a pair of pipes under the panniers.
I will post some video as soon as I have it so in the mean time an example
Not a Tiger just an example, and I am aware that smoke is not dust but it's as close as I can get.
