Blank firer and smoker question

I am looking through smoker and blank firer parts and have some questions.

Late Tiger 1, The instructions I have seem not to include some parts.

SMOKER: I have a plastic fan spacer. Nothing in the instructions about this. Should it be fitted?. Which way round is fan fitted. Label up or down?

BLANK FIRER:I have some seals. One has been fitted. Seems to make drum instalation a bit tight especially as the instructions I have call for some paper spacers while positioning the drum. Spare seal in bag also. No mention in my instructions about this. The seal may have been added to the drum before it came into my possession. Also a seal retainer part no. CEO764 and an additional pack of screws for the retainer.





The instructions I have were supplied by Gill as I did not get instructioins for these items from seller.

The spacer is shown on the 222 Option Pack instructions, between the fan and the top of the smoker unit. I don't have one of these units so can't say whether it should be fitted in a Tiger or not.

The fan should have two arrows embossed on the side, showing the direction of rotation and the direction of air flow. The fan should be installed so that the airflow arrow points towards the smoker unit - so that the fan is blowing air into it, rather than sucking smoke out of it.

Thanks Adrian, that helps.
I do not have the same instructions as I did not get any with my option pack. Got them from Gill recently. The instructions correspond almost fully but not quite. Main query was direction of fan but this would be sorted at testing anyway.

Other thing I'm wondering about is that there is no hole through which fan can blow air.
Along time to go before fitting. Just want to see how it all works.

On the Armortek smokers, there isn't one big hole into which air is blown but rather a number of small ones - not much bigger than the mounting holes.

No that's the later one.



Clearly 4 extra small holes in lid maybe these are the fan holes.



There were a few extra holes but covered by the fan frame, At this point I had assembled as per the instructions I had which stated 25 mm fasteners whereas I had 35mm. Thought I got the wrong fasteners so cut to 25mm then saw I had a spare fan spacer 10mm thick. I will get some more 35 mm and fit spacer.
Should the heating element be glued in place or just insreted.

The instructions I had for the blank firer turned out to be for a slightly earlier version and Gill has kindly sent the correct so all is now clear, I think.

Looks to me as though the fan spacer will cover the holes as well. Gill/Mark will be able to advise whether the spacer is needed with that model of smoker.

I've just pushed mine into place. If you clip the cable securely, it's very unlikely to come adrift.

Hi John,

I am not 100% sure, but there should be a brass "element tube" part # CE0734 and a teflon "heat sleeve" part # CE0739 among the parts.
The heat sleeve has to be screwed in the big threaded hole on the side of the smoker housing. The thread on the sleeve is very fine and vulnerable, so be very careful.
Then you screw the brass tube, from the inside of the housing, into the sleeve.
Finally you gently insert the heating element into the tube. All the way in until the end. The heating element is now fixated. No glue !

Thanks, have element tube fitted and Teflon mat fitted. Looks ok now thanks.
