hi guys

thinking of buying a futaba super9 9chp-pcm 9 channel on 40mhz.
are these any good for the tanks? also been looking at a mutiplex cockpit sx 7 ch but seems you can only have 6 servos going 7th channel as two working :?
so thinking of the super 9 :?
as i could do with the extra channels  but just checking first.

Hi Richie,

Unless you are planning to take your Tiger out for a flight around the RC airfield, I guess the Super 9 is not what you should be looking for. This is a RC airplane radio set "pur sang".
Why not consider a Robbe Futaba F14 ? Standard capacity of 8 channels and lots of space for Multi-Switch, Multi-Prop, Dual-Rates and Mini Options. A real workhorse to control up to 106 functions instead of lots of "bling-bling"
Just my two pence

Hi Richie,

Sure, you can use the Super 9 for tanks, but you will pay quite a lot extra for features that you will never use.
The F 14 is a bit like "old faithful", a fit senior that is still going strong. Most upgrades/modules are still supported by Robbe/Futaba.
I still own one (built 1999) that I use for my RC naval models with 36 functions

Hi Richie,

You can still get them e.g. here http://www.westbourne-models.com/erol.html#1733X0 . Basic version with 4 ch. transmitter and 8 ch. receiver. Proportional, switch and proportional/switch combo modules can be added as you choose.

The Super 9 has 8 (or 9 in PCM mode) channels of which only 4 are proportional. The others are 2 or 3 position switch channels (on/off).
A correction on my earlier post: the Super 9 comes with a synthesized HF module allowing a choice of 8 frequencies. That is an advantage. The F 14 still works with crystals for individual frequencies.

Hi Richie , for what its worth , I would go with the F14. Possibly the " navy " which is designed for twin stick control might suit your needs .

Richie,

What exactly do you want to do? If you don't need roportiona channels you coud use the Hunter systems UHF units. I have the 4 channel system which is like a key fob to turn things off and on.
