Vision Ports

Hi all,

I need to make some vison ports for my Panzer IV but have no reference to measure from to scale to 1/6th. Would anybody know what dimensions theses would be as in length, width and thicknesses.

Hi,

not sure exactly which parts you mean but you can download all my reference pics from one of the Ausf.J in Parola, Finland. I tried to take alot of pics with a tape measure in the pic but the sun was too bright so the scale is washed out in many of them. Maybe it will help anyway.

Anyone else needing reference pics can download them as well, just don't use them for anything comercially.

Hi Bjorn,

The ports I am refering too are the ones that were fitted to the earlier Ausfs and were locating on the turret in front of the side hatches and on the side armour which gave the driver and MG gunner views to the side. As I have no kit to scale up from I dont want to really guess the sizes just by studying pictures.

I can get the measurements from the real thing if you want. I can go to Aberdeen Proving Grounds this weekend. Is there anything else you need measured while I am there?

Got the measurements for the vision port, from a Pz IV ausf F2. It is 13" (330.2 mm) long and 7 3/8" (187.325 mm) wide, it is 7/8" (22.225 mm) thick at the ends and 1 1/8" (28.575 mm) thick in the middle. I made up an excel sheet with other dimensions and pictures, give me your email address and I will send it to you.
