Dora German Rail Gun

Post by phil fitzpatrick »

Hi Guys
I dont know whether this incredible piece of work has been put on the
Forum befor, but I've only just discovered it,passed on to me by Barry
Hopkins
Its Peter Shaws 1/6 Scale Dora Build the German Rail Gun
Very Impressive and I think it will take a weekend out of my Comet
Build to go back and look at all the Photo's in the gallery properly

AND IT TOOK 4 1/2 Months to build

The First Link will lead you to a front page which is very interesting to
read before going to the link on that page to his massive photo Gallery

www.vonabt.co.uk/models/Dora/DoraBuild.htm

The second Link will take you straight to the Gallery

www.vonabt.co.uk/models/Dora/index.html

I wonder if Mark could make a Blank Firer for Peters Model :?:

Cheers
Phil

I had glimpsed some earlier photos of this Dora model but now it looks as though it is finished - a magnificent achievement.

If you Google "William Terra" you will come up with several sites but this one has the most photos: http://www.bismarck-class.dk/shipmodels ... terra.html

This is also a very inspirational model and has set me thinking about a 1/20th scale Hood. Has anyone any experience of naval modelling at that scale in the UK?

The Hood's hull is much simpler than the Yamato and not much shorter. The superstructure is a great deal simpler too.

That brings back memories. Going to Peters every month so we can run our tanks around his 1/6th scale village and haveing a good laugh. As Peter said it kept the weeds Down.
