Bovington Tiger 1 Photos - Hull

Post by Steven Day »

Here’s the second set of pictures for the Hull of the Bovington Tiger 131. I’ve mainly concentrated on the welds and fixings to the Hull. I was surprised at the finish of the welds between the Hull plates, which were formed either in a sweeping pattern or multiple vertical lines. None of these had been ground down and they didn’t protrude much above the plate surface. I hope you find these useful.

Here’s the joint between the Glacis Plate and the Upper Front Plate (both sides)

Here you can see the Visor Armour welded to the Driver and Radio Op’s Hatches. You can also make out the rivet heads that I assume are for securing the hatch hinges.

I guessing this is the Aerial Mast Storage Tube welded to the left hand Pannier Side Plate. I doubt this can be the original welds as it’s a bit too rough.

Various brackets holding the Track Cables, although I’m not sure all these are original.
