I didn't think all you mighty Tiger people looked at the humble Pz III stuff, just as I can't imagine what it must have been like trundling into action protected by only 50mm of armour alongside a Tiger as they did in Tunisia.

There is so much to learn throughout this great forum. Just as I learnt something from your hole filling techique. So keep the good work coming.

Ken,

She is coming along beautifully!

I like the casting finish you have put on the parts.

Like you, I was planning to "steal" Stephen's idea.

I am happy to see how good it works.

Nice mill. They are fun and very useful.

Does it have a DRO? I have an ENCO mill and am getting a DRO for mine. They sure seem to help.

This mill is old school, was built in the early 60’s. Have seen a few adapted to DRO, but I have to keep my priorities straight. Motion Pack first, then maybe I’ll look at a conversion kit to DRO for the mill.

Progress has been slow, two steps forward, then two back. Had a small problem with one of the road wheel hubs. Working with Mark, he was able to correct the problem that I had. I also corrected the problem that I created to the torsion bars. Reading the question that Ronald asked on the forum about the torsion bar angle. Reviewing the instructions again I found that I did miss that key word “downâ€

Looks excellent Ken

Should be picking up on my Tiger about the same place as you. Itching to get some dark yellow on the wheels and lower hull but much to do on some other builds first.:?

Well it has been almost 9 months since I really did any true work on the Tiger. When I received my Bump Stop Castings from Steve Winstone that got me motivated again. Tore everything down so I could paint the bottom and the road wheels with the base coat and reassembled.

Still had the problem with inner double road wheels not lining up to the idler and drive wheel. I added shims to the wheel sets and moved them out 1.5mm. That aligned everything from front to back; at least I won’t have to worry about tearing up the road wheels or the track. This also took care of the problem with the front wheels sets being to close to each other. In a past life, I worked with conveyor systems and I know from them, that if they are not lined up correctly, parts start to destroy themselves really quick.

I’m still in the lathe 101 stages, but I picked up a 4-jaw chuck for my lathe so I can make the standoffs for the exhaust shields. I might redo the standoffs for the fenders also, so I can use 4-40 screws instead of the 3mm screws.

Question: How far down from the top of the rear plate were the two standoffs that held the Feifel system? My Tiger did have them so I would like to add them.

Hi Ken.

Nice to see you getting back to work on the Tiger.

Did you remove any material from the wheels in order to make room for the welds ? They are certainly very impressive :D

I can't help with Feifel stand-off dimensions but the pictures below, from the Bovington Tiger with the exhausts removed, may give you an idea of the locations. One thing to note is how randomly the stand-offs have been welded to the hull :!:
