Turret Front and Gun Mount alignment issues?

Post by James Parks »

All,

Assembly on the Late Tiger 1 has gone very smooth, until now. As I proceed to page 30 of the Manual, the process of assembling Pack 8 of the Turret is going well, however when I attempt to screw the Gun Pivot's into the Turret Front (CE0473) I am unable to do so, because the hole in the Gun Mount (CE0406) does not line up accordingly.

It is off by a good deal and would require grinding a good amount of metal to make it line up. I have examined pictures of other tanks in the Gallery, reexamined the instructions, flipped and turned the Gun Mount every which way, but the hole will not line up for the Gun Pivot's.

Hopefully my explanation makes sense.

Many thanks,
James

Hi guys,
I read this with interest and immediately checked my new Tiger out. I too have about a mm to grind off so thanks for the info. Just goes to show how important these forums are.

Cheers

Steve. :D

Steven

You can grind all the material off the underside of the gun mount, but it is much easier to reduce the diameter of the peg on the end of the gun pivots.

Cheers Mark, I'll have a look at that.
