Hi Jeff.

That lip certainly seems to be present on both of the Bovington and APG Panzer IIIs for which I have photos.

I do have one set of photos from http://www.worldwar2aces.com/panzer-tank/panzer-iii/ which show an Ausf IIIM without the lip but that's the exception to the rule

Adrian.

Nearly finished fitting out the side track guards, just the "S" hooks and the brackets for the jack to do, I scratch built the pry-bar in steel, and made the aerial trough, jack block and tool handles from hardwood, I also made the starter handle and Tetra fire extinguisher, to place all the pieces in the correct positions left lots of unwanted holes these have been filed

Jeff, Outstanding details. I love the fire ext even down to the rusted mounting bracket. Your aerial came out fantastic. Really inspirational, even to those of us who don't have a P3. Keep it going.

Jeff,

Stunning detail once again. I now see how the aerial is supposed to be on this tank. Why was there a multi-leaf spring in one direction and only a single leaf in the other direction, it seems strange to me?

I've just come back from 2 1/2 weeks in Florida watching the Gatornationals drag racing and spending a week at Daytona, with a passenger ride in a NASCAR, very nice but the weather could have been a little warmer, it seems everyone has suffered a bit this winter. I'm back out to Kansas tomorrow for business, but the down side is that I'm not back until next Sunday so I'll miss out on a bit of Easter.

I have been working on the air intakes, first I cut out the existing webs, and replaced with steel ones of a thinner section, it was quicker for me than machining and filing all the angles square, I then made the mesh screen and cover, on the original the edges of the mesh were wrapped around a wire frame, and in turn the whole wired to the cover, a bit fiddly but can be done, I have also included a picture of the new front bracket

Superb Jeff, as ever. I came to the same conclusion about the mesh covers for the intakes ie that a scale mesh isn't available and the only way to get the right pattern was to make it. The square pattern you've modelled is on the Bovington vehicle and it looks good. There is also a diamond pattern, woven in a slightly different way, so for the sake of variety, I'll have a go at that. I seem to spend all day in the workshop with little to show, so I'm constantly amazed at the speed of your very fine builld.

All the best.

Stephen

Hi Stephen, I did think about fitting the mesh so it looked like the diamond pattern, but it would have been difficult to fix the wires neatly to the frame, I had a go at making the chain link mesh, but that was a step to far,
