Hong Kong Comet Pics

Just got back from a trip to Hong Kong and thought I'd share a small selection of pics of the Comet at the Coastal Defence Museum. It's a post war Mark 1 Type B with the later fishtail exhausts and what seems to be a non standard muzzle brake (at least I haven't seen one similar in any other photos). I've a lot more pics which I'd be happy to share for reference.

The tank was in service with 3rd Royal Tank Regiment and was presented to the Hong Kong Volunteers (Royal Hong Kong Regiment)as a gate guardian. It now sits with a Ferret and Saracen and is well cared for by the museum staff. The Museum itself is well worth a visit, not least because it was itself the scene of fierce fighting during the Japanese assault on HK in Dec 1941.

Thanks for the pictures Stephen - I'd certainly be interested in a set of photos.

I've found a walk-around of this tank on the net but a fresh set would be most welcome.

There's a huge number of bolt heads on the lower hull sides, behind the wheels - I wonder if Mr Watkins will be including all of them in the kit...

Nice photos!

Revealing some eye catching rough cast surface especially at the turret.
You Comet guys better get some Mr Surface 500 as you canâ€™t hide it under zimmerit on this one...

It is true Kent; the rough surface of the turret was the first thing I noticed, looking at this pictures.

Hi Gents.

If you had been stood outside for over fifty years, you would have a rough surface. The original cast surfaces would have had texture. The plate work would most definitely not. Pristine examples of plate from the period are pretty smooth.
