Hi Chris,
Tiger is not started just yet. I may start next week at work as I have no available space at home until after Christmas. If I can get the lower half done I'll be able to transport it easier also. Quick question save me looking through the forum, what would be a good primer paint? I am too use to ironing on stuff for aeroplanes, I havn't a clue about finishing in paint.

Regards
Steve.

I've used the Acid 8 primer and found it one of the best out there, but unfortunately not a patch on the old chromate primer that used to be available before the safety police got onto it. You can get away with a very thin coat of this primer so I only used two tins of it. I then built up the thickness with High build primer which is cheaper. Before painting everything make sure the alloy is clean and slightly abraded. I used the humbrol aerosol airbrush cleaner as a final wipe before painting.

Thanks for the reply Allan,
I have orderd 3 tins from Halfords today so as soon as they arrive I am set to go. Also thinking of building a miniture paint booth from polytheme to stop the dust as well should help with the finishing.

Hi Steve

Acid etch on the ally and good old fasion red oxide on the steel works fine, then cover the whole tank with red oxide to give the top coat an even base. also its best to wait until its warmer and dryer to spray as you don't want the metal to be damp.

Hope this helps

Marc :)
