all I can be of help with is a complete drawing of the early bracket with pin. I only telling you this because I do not know if the bracket was ever changed during the period.
If you like the bracket ( can be seen in my gallery "hull" ), I will put the drawing in as well.
Does someone out there know if any differenc between early and later typ exists and what kind of ?
Hello David . I have just had a look at your new gallery photos . You are moving along nicely , your build so far is' top noch ' . Plus the zimmert is spot on . keep the photos comming Dale.
Hi I'm in the process of building the hull on my late Tiger.
Does any one know if the tow bracket supplied with the late tiger is accurate. I have looked at a number of photos, which show the bracket being secured by 4 botls (un-like the one supplied with the late tiger kit)
the drawing of my tow bracket is in may gallery on "hull-Page 6".
It was made on a mill. Question of material is important for any later use. If towing is of interest for your later model, steel or titanium is the only way to go. Brass and aluminium is fine to look but not strong enaugh for towing.
I like the word "castle nut". In German it is Kronenmutter like crown nut as a straight translation. Those nuts however are not commercialy available as fare as my observations reach. I have tried more than two years to find a supplier - no luck. Finaly I ordered a batch of 100 just for my peace of mind.
10 pieces are left. A set of 4 pices to go for the tow bracket will eat 10 engl. Pounds. That's what I payed for - no jokes. Up to you.
when I said I have ordered, I used a normal buying procedure as it is very common in a company : I sent out 18 enquieries to companies doing special bolts and nuts ( smaller sices ) on a custom base. To this enquiery I attached mydrawing. Only one supplier was able ( willing ) to quote for a batch of 100 pieces. The price was high but I ordered to find my peace of mind.
Unfortunately the companies name is in the documents of the buying department of my old company. So one and a half years ago I sold my company and all papers are with the new owner. This is the reason I can not tell you or the forum the name of this supplier. All I remember, it was a company with CNC lathe equipment in Mönchengladbach, a town near to my place in Krefeld.
If however anyone has a vital interest in this Kronenmutter and can not find a company in his country, let me know. I may go through the yellow pages and find this company. Sorry for this inconvinient answer.
