Ok all you clever Tiger owners/enthusists out there. I too was going down the track of reproducing 007 from the 101ST.

Several reference books I have show this tank as having rubber road wheels, however I wont dispute the findings of The Modelers Guide as pointed out.

It is however clear that the 101ST took in 9 tanks on the 3rd of January 1944, 2 command and 7 battle tanks. I assume these would have been considered December production as they were ready for dispatch at the start of January. Of course this does not mean one was a Stab whihc I understand.

How does one know which tanks were designated as Stab and I cant seem to find a reference to when these tanks may of in fact been built?

Waldemar Trojca book clearly shows 101 having three Stab tanks 007 / 008 / 009 (the last with steel raod wheels) as at June 44 So when were 007 and 008 built??

Only other reference I can find to Stab tanks is July 43 there being three in the 502ST

So now that I have a built a tank that is somewhere from Oct 43 to Jan 44 production as a Stab not even sure if a Stab tank was built in that time?

Any ideas?

Quick followup to my own post.

Since read that 84 Tigers were converted to Befehlswagens in 1944. NO indication as to when this started in 44 so I guess it is possible that a pre Feb 44 (intro of steel road wheels) was one of these 84.

Still not sure of how they would have been numbered though apart from previous reference mentioned

Hi David.
Just a quick response before I go to work. I would just like to say that the points you make were indeed pointed out to the owner of the tank before I even started to strip it down,the model in the modellers guide had already been chosen and even after a chat about the wheels thats what was wanted...and the customer is always right

I will leave the historians among us to deliberate this and I will have a read tonight.

Hi Guys
As I know the owner of this Tiger and recommended Paul
for this job and the King Tiger I also pointed out the errors
between the real tank and the kit that was being used.
However as Paul said the customer is always right.
Paul has done a superb job on both models.
