This is what I have used successfully for the past three years. A good futaba 'Brick' servo, giving a good 3-4" of movement. Originally I was using a 9mm pistol which discharged out of the barrel, but it kept jamming, and therefore a bit of a pain! So I now just use the Benedini gun fire on the sound card.

Your setup looks really good, very orderly in the set up.

My Tiger has Pete Fertl's Barrel and the Armortek Firing unit; I am not sure that I will ever actually ever fire a blank in it - I like to know it's there though. Ideally I would like the recoil to work with everything as it is installed now (with or without shooting a blank). As if that wish is not enough, I'm also tinkering with ideas of upgrading speaker(s)/sound output.

Has anyone successfully installed a servo recoil within the Turret along with the Armortek firing system?

We appreciate why you are asking about a recoil unit with the Armortek blank firing system and why the effect would be desirable. However we must emphasise once again that the Armortek firing unit MUST be rigidly fixed to the tank and that modifications are not recommended. Any such mods are entirely at your own risk. The firing unit is a powerful device.

Richie,

The shooting is good fun but I now do air rifle Saturday morning and clays Sunday morning, so I'm getting a bit of nagging from the boss!!!

Moving is a rail pain in this country and these new HIP's make it even more difficult.

The helicopter sounds fun and a challenge, I better not go there otherwise there would be even more "toys" around the house. I ve been told I have to sell off some of my stuff - especially the 1/16th tanks as I haven't touched these since getting the Armortek Tiger going.

Hi Mark,

While I do have professional experience with firearms and other devices, I have not used the firing unit therefore I am not fully familiar with its dynamics. So I do welcome all thoughts.

If there is recoil of any useful sort generated by the firing mechanism, then could some mechanism be devised to harness the energy from the shot to make the barrel recoil? But then this system alone would only work when the blank is fired, and I would prefer a system that gives the choice of working with or without shooting the blank.

Not giving up too easily....in the tradition of a good Tiger commander

Richie,

The Sherman is going really slowly with such a lot of scratch building to do with this conversion. I've spent the last week of evenings making the tw brackets for the rear hull plate. I only do about an hour's work per night.

You seem to be making good progress with the Tiger, the animatronicfigures do make a big difference to the model, especially if they move all the time like the ones Vince made. Mine only does a 30 second party piece.
