A New Year Begins

Happy New Year to everyone!

We are now back having had a few days away and are now looking forward to 2010.

Thank you to everyone for all of your good wishes over the festive period and we hope that you too have had a restful and enjoyable holiday.

Needless to say the Armortek e-mail 'in box' is rather full and it is going to take time to answer everyone, we will do our best, however appreciate your patience if it takes a little while to reply to you.

Over the next few months we will be completing the Tiger 1 production for which deliveries are expected to commence in March. A large proportion of Panzer III deliveries have been completed and the rest are ready to go as required.

The Comet prototype will also be taking shape over the next few months and as promised we will post photos of its development.

Our first show this year will be the The South West Model Engineering, Model Making and Hobbies Exhibition at The Royal Bath & West Show Ground, Shepton Mallet on Saturday 17th & Sunday 18th April. It is our intention to have the Comet Prototype running at this event.

We have also been giving consideration to the Armortek Open Day, we are still interested in receiving your ideas and input for this event. We are also considering making it a two day event every other year, allowing the opportunity for a range of activities, workshops etc, making it more worthwhile for those who travel from afar. Let us know what you think.

Hi Gill & Mark

A two day event sounds like a good idea as it means more choice for those with busy schedules, plus helps with travelling times etc, being as you're in such a picturesque corner of this country

I might be seen as talking through my hat, seeing as I have yet to manage to bring a working vehicle to an Open Day

, but it seems to me to be getting quite congested as far as running the models, especially as the popularity of the event is increasing, as will owner numbers with each new release.

Looking on Google Earth, there's a stub of runway behind the units on the other side of the road to you - do you know who controls that and whether we could have the use of it for the weekend

It looks to be ideal as it has a mixture of grass and tarmac

Dear Mark and Gill,
Re the Open Day; I feel that as Armortek and all of us lot are such a close knit group,that I would miss an annual event that brought us all together at least once a year.
It is good to link up with everyone in Dunkeswell and find out info etc as well as meet other tankers.
I appreciate that tankers from further away masy find it difficult to find the time to attend every year,especially if from abroad.
The Open Day in 2009 was my first one,and if I had to wait 2 years for the next it would seem like a long wait.

Dear Mark and Gill.
Happy New Year... i must say i agree with what Duncan has said 2009 was also my first open day and it was such a great day seeing all the models and meeting people it would seem a shame if it turned into an every other year event. As Adrian says a two day event also sounds good as well as his idea of a larger running ground for the event...if this were possible perhaps some type of obsticle course could be set up to add to the fun?

Happy new year to you both.
A two day tankie week end would be fantastic especially if there were some kind of work shops as there is always something new to learn.
It would be the perfect excuse for me to come down drop the wife at our daughters and for my grandson and I to have yet another great time with you and all the other guys.
So YES please a full weekend.

Welcome back Gill and Mark . I hope you had a good brake from the machines , phones , e mails and tanks .. It's going to be a big year again for you guy's ... Gill if you have time would you mind posting some photos of some of the new Mid tiger parts that we have not seen before e.g . New road wheels new lower rear deck parts etc .. Because you have done so many tiger before !! Will you be doing a complete test build on the Mid tiger or just make it and send it out ?? Dale

Happy New Year, Gill & Mark, I also would like it to be a yearly event, if you are going for September again this year, I am working on the 12th, 24 & 25th, I missed it last year because of work, but would love to attend this year, so fingers crossed

Another permutation which is perhaps less onerous to organise, but maintains continuity?
It would be to have an event each year, with a simple one day event as the basis,but a two day event every second or third year.
I hope that Mark and Gill will be encouaged by our enthusiasm for and enjoyment of the occasion!
