Does anyone have a source for scale mesh (metal) for the covers on the engine vents, particularly in the USA.
Thanks
David

This isn't easy to fix. The mesh on the engine intakes on the Pz III was an interwoven lozenge shaped pattern and at one sixth scale, the lozenges need to be about 3.5mm across.
The nearest I've come is a product called Wireform by Amaco in the States but it isn't correct. See here:
http://www.amaco.com/shop/product-368-w ... -mesh.html
You can get it in artists' materials shops. I found mine in the Big Apple (amazing how far UK Armortek owners will go to get stuff).
Railway modellers can get chain link fence material which would be the correct pattern but I can't find it in the right size.
Note that the Bovington Pz III in UK has not got the right mesh on its intakes. They are a post war replacement.
Do let us know if you find the right stuff - until then, we'll keep looking (or find someone mad enough to weave it from copper wire).
Regards
Stephen

David,
McMaster-Carr sells all sizes of brass, Alum, copper square woven wire cloth in economical 12" squares. http://www.mcmaster.com/#wire-mesh/=4vzuqz
Doesn't sound like they have the specialty "lozenge" mesh you need for the PIII however. Can you rotate square mesh 45 degree to get the desired <similar> effect?
If you have a photoetch kit you could try making your own pattern.

wire mesh for vent covers
Hi
The Panzer 111 Ausf L is my first armortek tank and I am realy enjoying it.
the only book of reference that i have is the,
Osprey Publishing,New Vanguard series,Panzerkampfwagen 111 medium tank 1936-44.
based on the pictures in there and Stephens reply saying the measurement of the mesh should be about 3.2 mm,I have found the closed mesh that I could find which gave the same effect as in my book and has a 4 mm x 6 mm diamond shape.
I'm not sure that it is exactly to scale but it will look good in a frame of 5 mm x 5 mm aluminium square U channel which i found, along with some small hinges half the size of the armortek kit mudguard hinges, but i will still need to trim them up to fit on the frame.
My parts were all found at my local B & Q store.
Mesh
No 40
500 x 250 x 0.8 mm
2016-3520
bar code 232637 502757
Price £8.91

Here is a thought. Hydralogists and engineers routinenly use sieves for soils and aggragate testing. these have many mesh sizes. They may be pricy, but may be a source. I did a quick search and came up with this site. I didn't look further. I hope this helps
