Hi Just an update on the build so far, I have just finished the canopy frame, and tried to keep it to scale and to the original working diamentions, all I had to work from was a diagram, ( thanks to Colin Fairweather) and some pictures of of a folded canopy frame, making it was a bit like playing cats cradle with one hand, the results are in my gallery, I also decided to remove the rear storage rack, and go with two 200lt fuel drums.

G' day Jeff . It's interesting that the canopy frames are timber . I wonder if they where paint the same colour as the hull or left plain . Dale

Geoff,
I was absolutely gobsmacked at the work you've done on the canopy. I can only imagine how difficult and fiddley this must have been to get right and to work. I think yu are re-setting the height of the bar on this model. The actual covering material is going to be another difficult challenge. Might I suggest a very light material like the nylon for covering model aircraft, otherwise a thiker material may not fold and stretch right.

Hi Allan, I tried some linen cloth with a wide weave pattern, and quite a heavy weight, and the frame seamed to close ok, although it will be taller than without the cover, but if you look at period pictures with the canopys closed and the cover still on, they look all over the place, from very neat, to a bulky heap; using a heaver cloth makes it sag in all the right places, but we will see over the next week or so

Hi, Chris, yes I have an 88 that I will be doing next, a mid-tiger, and a 222, that all require a lot of work, I do not get much free time,as I work in Leicester all week and we do military fairs some weekends, so any free time is like gold dust, but if you would like to get in touch, send me a PM, and I will return my email address
