Commander cupola Tiger I / Tiger II

Post by Hugo Schittich »

Hi dear modeling friends,

we are glad to announce a new, absolutely to scale kit of the commanders cupola - Kommandantenkuppel - for the Tiger I/II.

For the first time made in the land of its origin - Made in Germany

It's made solely from CAD drawings and the difficult parts are fabricated in a CAD-3D-printer of the very strong ABSplus-material.
So you have the security that every part in every kit is absolutely to scale and all edges are always sharp regardless if you buy the first kit this year or a kit one or two years later.

The cupola consists of some 200 parts, the most of them handmade from brass and aluminium.

Highlights are for the first time a working azimuth indicator ring, full functionable pivoting arm with handwheel, handmade prismas and a little, of course scale, lock from brass.
There are no resin and white metal cast parts, cast parts are of very strong German silver or nickel silver.

The cupola can be ordered in the following forms:

- for the Tiger I with azimuth indicator ring
- for the Tiger I/II without the azimuth indicator ring
- for the Tiger II - the so called "Porsche" turret - with relocated handwheel

Further on you have the choice:

- with or without hatch return stopper
- with or without the slits to drain off rainwater

We offer the cupola as a basic kit with the possibility to grade up to the full cupola with all the interior stuff or as a full kit with all accessories:

- full kit: all the stuff included
- basic kit: for customers who want only the outside detailed
- Winkelspiegel kit: episcopes/prismas with forehead pad kit
- inner hatch mechanics kit: with head pad, two versions:
+ Tiger I / Tiger II "Serienturm"
+ Tiger II "Porscheturm" with long axle for the hand wheel
- azimuth indicator ring kit: with shaft to the gunner's mechanics

We can deliver in Oktober a first batch of 25 cupolas.

For further information and your questions send an eMail with the subject "Cupola" to:

Have nice modeling hours!

Here are now some pictures:

The complete cupola from the side. It's already countersunk in the prototype roof plate of the coming Tiger II "Porsche" turret. You see the big hand wheel mechanics.

Here are the handwheel mechancis for the King Tiger with the "Porsche" turret. Very long axle for the hand wheel because there was not enough space in the "Porsche"-turret for the shorter version.

Thank's Adrian!
It was a strong experience, almost one and a half year of research and development.
