Sherman finishing

Well everyone I finally got my Sherman finished...mostly. I still need to do a little detailing here and there and then tackle the blank firing device.
Here are a couple of pictures.

As far as the 2nd armored division is concerned. Does anyone know if "FURY" would have had the division/regiment/tank number markings on the front lower hull? If so do you know what regiment and vehicle number it was. The only picture I have of it is from the side showing "FURY" and the serial number.

Hi Michael,
good to see another Sherman on the Forum. Congratulations on finishing your model!

Can't say if "FURY" is correct or not, I've looked but its not featured in my books.

Mark,

The only picture I have of "FURY" is from US Tank Battles in France 1944-45 by Steven Zaloga, and it's only from the right side of the tank. So it's correct as far as the name and serial number, but I don't know about the division, etc. markings.
The book also has a picture and a color plate of tanks from the 4th Armored division/8th tank battalion, which look like your excellent Sherman with the splinter camoflauge!!

I do have the Hunnicutt book but I have not seen anything about "FURY". Although since it's such a large book, I haven't gone through it enough, I will have to do that.

Now I have to tackle the blank firing device and take her outside more and break her in, which is the most fun! I still haven't heard from the guy here in the US about the blanks though, maybe he doesn't want to deal with it. I might have to order some from geometrotec.

My uncle was a Sherman commander in the second armored division
I wish he was still alive he would have been a great source of info

Thanks for the compliments.

Mike, I do wish your uncle was still around, he would be a great source of information and I bet would have some great stories. I will have to come up with the markings myself.

I did take the Sherman outside and drove her around the house a couple of times. I'm on a hill and the one side of the house is fairly steep, but she made it with no problems. I even drove her off the curb and into the street and then back again to see how the suspension worked, and it did great.

I have a couple of pictures of her outside. The paint scheme seems better when it's in the natural sun light for some reason.

I noticed the difference in the way the paint looks in sunlight too.

It seems to look more accurate when in the sunlight
