Arrangement of rear drive unit

Post by Takayuki Kotake »

Hello everyone ,Gill and Mark
I have a question today, please let me know what you think about.
I compared the photograph of a real vehicle with the photograph of the Armortek trial model. Rear drive unit which are sprocket, idler, 4 of small road wheels and track seems to be located inside for a while from the outside of the body plate compared with a real vehicle. Therefore, the whole image of the vehicle is visible to dull. Am I wrong?

Best regards

Takayuki

Hi Takayuki.

I'm not sure of the three pictures on the M2 page are of an actual model or are 3D rendered images from Mark's CAD system. I would imagine the latter and if so they may not be representative of the actual dimensions of the model.

However, I do agree with you that the tracks appear to be too close together.

In the George Bradford book on American Armored Fighting Vehicles, the tracks are only slightly inset from the body and the outside edge appears to be in line with the front wheels.

Takayaki, Adrian

The images on the web site, are digitally rendered from the CAD system. They are dimensionally correct. The track dimensions for our model are taken from measurement of a number of original vehicles. We are confident that we have not made any mistake in this area. More details and pictures of our prototype model will be posted soon.

Regards
Mark.

Hi Adrian and Mark.
I am glad to get the reply from you.
I placed an order simultaneously with a half track announcement. I felt it strange later, seeing the three pictures on the M2 page. Of course, I am sure that Mark knows exact form. I thought that it was influenced by the existing short length drive axis parts which can be used that Mark designed track slightly inside. As you know a basic design influences behind. I wish that the track should de designed in line with the outside body by all means. Mark said his design is correct, I can not help beliving you.
Moreover, I want Mark to carry out an option setup of a front-wheel drive power line and real front differential axle.
