Challenger 2 MBT

Post by Mike Cooper »

Does anybody know of a company that produces a 1/6th scale Challenger 2 Tank, preferably metal, that is or can be converted to r/c.

Mike,

I think that Mark-1 tanks have produced 1/6th scale Challenger 2 tanks www.mark-1-tank.co.uk. I would try Mark as a first contact point. Mark's tanks are fully R/C capable like the Armortek tanks.

Oh my Allen, you said the 'M' word. LOL
I remember in the infancy of Armortek, the 'A' word was not allowed on the Mark-1Tank forum,(tank talk) and if you used it you risked being banned, and if not, your post got deleted.
Just goes to show how nice Mark and Gill are.

Roland,

I remember those days only too well !!! I'm hoping that the two companies now live in harmony. I think Mike put a fair question on the forum, and if Armortek were to consider building a Challenger 2 it would not be available for a fair while.

Roland,

I just remembered that in those days Mark 1 hosted tank talk, which was also the forum being used by the UKTC. Hence I can see why it was not the done thing to mention competitors producs. ll thats changed now with the dedicated UKTC forum.

Roland,

I know what you mean, I have the early Tiger and I'm now building the Sherman. I'd love to have all the Armortek models but I just can't justify the cost at the moment - maybe if my numbers came up and money was no object.

I think a modern tank would be a reall Challenge - pun intended. They would be very big (and heavy) models but I think the real challenge would be to make them perform like the full size tank, that would be almost three times the speed of the Tiger with the suspension making them almost float over the ground.

Having scratch built a 1/12th scale DUKW I am wondering about a 1/6th amphibious scratch built Stalwart. If I can source suitable wheels that would probably kick off the project.
