Hi Guys
I was wondering what Lubrication people use in the drive gearboxes
on the Tanks and also what is the best type of grease for the O-rings
on the suspension arms....
hello derek,
i use a grease called superlube, it,s a clear synthetic grease and is impervious of water, not to sure of cost as i get it from work, i used it on all drive gears bearings and orings,
I use super lube as well, it is a PTFE based grease, and as Chris says it's impervious to water. It only costs about £5, and comes in a spray tin or a tube for your grease gun.
For the gears in the final drive casing any general purpose grease will do. You will find that the Armortek drive trains are very smooth. I wouldagree that you definately need waterproof grease on the suspension arms.
When I bolted the final drive housings to the hull side of my Tiger I smeared some silicone sealer to the mating surfaces to ensure a seal from water. Instant gasket would also work but only a thin smear.
