Simon's No 92 Complete, Motion, Sound, Lights, Weathered

Post by Simon Mockford »

My Series 1 is now complete with Motion, Sound and Light packs. I have weathered it to look like a farm vehicle and made to look like my own Series One which I owned many years ago. Wish I still had it !

That looks absolutely terrific. Great job of building the kit and the paint job looks grand!

Did you recolour the canvass top?

I love the bonnet mounted spare wheel too, I'm looking at turning the wheel mounting plate for mine.

Well done sir.

Mick

Hello Mick
Thank you for your kind words.
Yes I used a fabric dye, Dylon olive green hand dye 50g. Mix up in a bucket and add salt, then let it stand for about 45 mins. Rinse out. This gave me the base colour then I used a bit of spray to give a dirty mud effect.
I really enjoyed the build and used the forum and some of Tony's You Tube to help.
Good luck with yours.

Simon that looks so good, well done. Perfect weathering to as you say looks like a proper farm vehicle. If you didn't know you would swear it was a photo of the real thing.
Have a great Christmas.
Steve.

Many thanks Charles, I'll try to do a shirt video in the New Year. I'm hoping for some snow to get some good pics. Thanks or your LR badges - gives it the finishing touch.
Cheers

Thank you Damon. Yes I wish I still had the Series 1, they are worth a fortune now. The trouble is when you are young you can't afford two cars so you have to sell one to get the next one and you don't have the foresight to realize that one day it will be a classic.
Cheers
Simon
