Machine gun and light option packs

Post by Nick Chiocchio »

Has anyone had an issue with either of these? Mine were working fine until last week when the machine gun motion wouldn't work (sound and LED did motion no). The lights also wouldn't turn on. I thought the servo cable just came loose since both hookup directly to the receiver. After getting inside and doing some troubleshooting it turns out the machine gun motion servo is dead and it appears the light RC switch is also dead.

I replaced the servo with a similar size and it works now. I tested the original servo after removing it and it wasn't jammed, I could move the shaft by hand. It would not respond to a servo signal.

I ordered some new RC switches to test the lights, these will arrive some time this week. I tested the switch by itself and no response, the output stays at 1.5 volts regardless of the input position. I did not put it under load except for the meter to measure the voltage, I'll just replace with a new similar switch and see what happens.

When I helped Tony set up his Pershing, I used the transmitter end-point adjustment to reduce the throw on the MG servo, as it ran out of room in both directions, and I was worried that stalling such a small servo for any length of time might burn it out.

Interesting, I thought I tested the throw when I first assembled it but not 100% sure. Anyway because I am who I am I always return it to center after sweeping the area with .30 virtual bullets. So I didn't have it at the end points for long periods of time. If I have time I may dissect the servo to see if it was the electronics or the motor. It's very small so maybe a manufacturing defect??
