Nice addition Steve. Should be lots of fun. I was thinking about getting a set but where to keep?
If interested in any parts used in my builds contact me at johnfitzsimons@msn.com for a price list.

Hi John
As always it's good to hear from you.
Its a lovely kit the parts are very well made.
I now have two workshops and still not enough room lol.
I do have a place in mind in workshop No 2 but my wife has put her foot down and said definitely not in the house I have been telling her it will fit under bed no problem !!!!!! Carnt say what her reply was but it ended in off lol.
I would recommend the bridge bud.
Take care and keep safe

One kit on the way to me. Parcels picked up two days ago by UPS and now according to the tracking number stuck for over 36 hours at their facility at Stanford-le-Hope as they do not yet have the required paperwork( commercial Invoice) for export.
Very strange as it was UPS who provided me with the tracking number by email. And they could only have done that if they had my email adress. How could they have got my email adress ? Monique put it on the commercial invoice.

Re: It's here at last
Just checked the tracking site. Problem with the paperwork now rectified and it can proceed on its journey.
Lets wait and see how long UPS take to get it to a port and on a boat.

Re: It's here at last
Good afternoon gents
Here is one photo I just had to share with you all
The back end of last year I was doing some work alongside the guys from the frostery commission.
I asked the boss if he would leave me an offcut of hard wood that I could use for the Bailey bridge
I explained in great detail size and how much I would require to do the job.
Well yes he ssid no problem he said we have a whole forest to chose from.
Here in the photo is the tiny piece of log he left me.
Wouldn't have been to bad but my chain saw isn't quite enough to go through it.
Take care and keep safe
Regards
Steve

Nice piece of beech Steve.
Just how many spans are you catering for?
I hope you have someone local with a c/saw Milling system or mobile saw bench.
There is some satisfaction seeing a lump of timber become part of a project.
Cheers

Charles, What was the green paint you used on your bailey bridge? It rather suits the bridge!Charles A Stewart wrote: ↑Fri Jun 14, 2024 10:40 pmHi Steve.

Re: It's here at last
Hi Phil.
I bought Deep Bronze Green from www.paints4trade.com
Vehicle piant, then the Military vehicle paint section. Not sure if they do rattle cans though.
Having said that I did buy a NATO green from www.militaryvehiclepaint.co.uk it was darker than I would wish for, but is close to deep bronze green.
Hope this helps.
BTW my bridge has been outside for 2 years, paint is still in good order and IMHO, is nicely weathered, naturally.
I do however have to remove Cobwebs occasionally, A scale issue with the spiders.
Regards

Hi Charles,
I do like the Deep Bronze Green on your bridge.
Did you give the wood any sort of treatment ?

Hi Mark.
No not treated at all as sapele has good outdoor properties as in highly rot and weather resistance . If I see "green" it gets a scrub of sterilising fluid.
However I am keeping an eye on it, but so far so good.
Cheers Charles

Re: It's here at last
Hi Charles,
It seems UPS have picked up my kit from Armortek today, so Yippee!
I too really like the Deep Bronze Green on your bridge. It's just what I had in mind for mine. It certainly looks like the Bailey Bridge sections I saw a few years back in a REME depot. I think that bridges which are still in service today - for example, over the river Usk at Glangrwyney, near Abergavenny in the UK - generally seem to be painted silver or are bare galvanised. However, I've just been researching authentic WW2 colours and I've been coming up with SCC2 - Standard Camouflage Colour 2 - for all bridges in North West Europe. That colour is also described as Dog Sh*t Brown, so that won't be happening on my brand new bridge...
Would anyone like to quote a RAL colour for Deep Bronze Green, as that's the way I think I'm heading?
Cheers
Keith
