Late Production Track Link

Post by Tim Bowman »

Hi everyone

My first post as an official Tiger 1 owner and builder. The nice thing about the Tiger is there are so many unbelievably nice examples in the gallery and on the forum to reference. I'll be building a late production Tiger 1 that would have appeared on the same Normandy fields as my Panther.

So far I have just loosely fitted the lower hull and am starting to plan the detailing. In the mean time, I thought I would get this drawn up on the computer. Hope to do these ones in metal to replace the kits early-style track links. We'll see if I have better luck then with the Panther links.

This is a "fist sketch" in Solidworks Kent so don't flame me too bad on accuracy just yet.

Hope to post some of my progress on the Tiger soon.

regards
Tim

Tim, is this the best you came out with after all the reference materiel I send you? :?

This is very, very good :!:
Some minor things I can pm you about later but still an excellent, stunning piece of art (as usual)

Want at least 7 of them to my turret in any material, and if they can be made of strong enough metal please put me up for a set.

Those Late tracklinks with chevrons are one of the most characteristic things about a Late Tiger being a Late Tiger.
And if produced you make at least one man on the planet happy

In fact we are 3 Swedes quite eager to see them come true.
And I am sure other are as well...

Cheers
Kent

Hi Tim,

Nice, interesting and impressive start on your Tiger I project. If you are planning to make these links in metal and willing to sell, I´m one of the Swedes interested in getting a set.

It will be interesting to follow your build report.

Tim,
Fantastic CAD work as usual. You are a Master at Solidworks. I agree with Kent, the model file looks great. I can CNC a metal master for you but would need an STL file of the model. But you can also print one in Resin to use as a metal master for a mold. Great work. I wish the late T1 model had these tracks as standard.

Hello,

any idea to make them of Metall in larger numbers? As said from the other owners - A late Tiger must have cevrons on the track. I have posibilities to make them from steel via investment-casting. If there any interest, please call me back via email on op@piekenbrink.de

with kind regards , Olaf

Thanks everyone for the kind comments and interest. I was waiting until I had the corrected drawing to post again but I've focused too much on the Tiger itself recently.

Hi Olaf

Thank you for the offer. I'm sure there is plenty of interest. Email sent.
