Re: 2024 Armortek Kit Survey
Yes we know it will never happen but fun to speculate. I did a VERY quick and VERY rough calc on the mass of alloy and reckon a bare hull and turret would likely tip the scales at the order of 0.5 tonnes..... That'll crush the Astra....
I'm currently betting on a half track.....

Hi Kian,
Appreciate the response, for me the maus and e100 were the ultimate hevey tanks, it's a size thing... bigger is better.

Re: 2024 Armortek Kit Survey
I'm not shy about saying I would like to see some other vehicles made besides German, not that I don't like German vehicles.
I know it's out of place but I have every German tank made from the Pz I through the Maus in 1/10 and in the case of some of those
several variations of Pz II, Pz III, Pz V and VI... I have 11 Panther types alone. I'm well on my way to having a significant chunk of my 1/6
scale tank shed follow suit; I think fully half is already.
No, I'd like to see some more vehicle from the era of Desert warfare, different British and Italian machines; A few of my choices would be
a Valentine, Semovente 75/18 and the little AB 41 armored car... All of these made a decent account of themselves...
I realize decisions are based on projected sales, sadly but realistically.... Please don't say I can print some of my favorites- the only way I'd do that is to use the resultant printed pieces as sand casting masters...!
Sincerely, your favorite thorn_in_the_side,
Jerry

Hi Stephen White,Stephen White wrote: ↑Tue May 07, 2024 4:24 pmWell, if the Maus is impracticable, how about this as a substitute? Fiat 2000, would appeal to First World War interests, and - just like the Maus - was an utterly impractical, useless and misconceived vanity project, or simply, wrong concept, wrong scale, wrong design, wrong time, wrong place. Excellent idea for consuming strategic materials at a time of shortage, when they could better be used almost anywhere else. Would make a wonderful mobile bath unit.

The Fiat 2000 is a tank produced in 2 prototypes by Fiat,
between the end of WWI and well before WWII,
they were given as a gift by Fiat to the "Regio Esercito" (Italian),
unfortunately both prototypes were lost,
one in Libya and the 'other things are thought in a foundry,
In Italy a faithful replica was made with an original engine in 1:1 scale and also one in 1:6 scale,
they are both in a museum in Northern Italy:

P.s. they are now making a replica of the Fiat 3000, again on a 1:1 scale

Re: 2024 Armortek Kit Survey
We have been asked to make a trailer for a few years now. The issue is that there are many variants of trailers out there and everyone would want a different one.Mark Weiss wrote: ↑Tue May 07, 2024 6:58 pmKian,
Since were on the subject of very large projects, I know we have joked about the Dragon Wagon, but would something like that ever be viable in your eyes? Maybe as a two part kit, tractor first then trailer. Or do you see it as just too large to be marketable or just not popular enough to ever make it to the top of the survey?
And again I love the survey as it keeps the conversation in the models alive.
So unless there was a significant consensus on one vehicle, I don’t think we will be making a trailer anytime soon.

I think the dragon wagon is a good choice as those of us who have multiple kits would greatly appreciate one. I am open to other options as long as the trailer can accommodate the large kits. And I think accommodation for the different models should be the top driving factor here. Just my opinion. Love all the ideas.

Re: 2024 Armortek Kit Survey
For Maus or E100 fans.
I know a guy made a E100 in 1/6 scale in a perfect construktion an many work on it. All parts are finish and part build. I saw it sometimes an I tell you it is a monster.
The track is about 50kg, the turret without guns and mechanics about 40kg, complete without batterys about 480kg.
He will sell it but I do'nt know if it is allready sold. If one is interested - please PN.
Cheers

Re: 2024 Armortek Kit Survey
A trailer would be realy nice. I think no matter whitch one. Maybe not too big, so it will be able to tow it with Famo, SdKfz7 and others.
The 88 would be also on my list

Re: 2024 Armortek Kit Survey
Well, I'm looking forward to the survey results!
Incidentally re the Maus, all joking aside, I think a King Tiger is as big a tank as my workshop could handle!

You should have taken wagers for the top three picks: anyone who successfully predicted the top candidate would win a free

Re: 2024 Armortek Kit Survey
OK here's my prediction. With a little applied logic. ( Therefore bound to be wrong.... )
Not a tank so that rules out Abrahams and C2 plus CVRT. Which also means no British vehicle this time.
We have had quite a few German vehicles and that's great, popular choices...
Lately the American offering is the Pershing.... so 1 US vs 3 German.
So my guess is the M2 Halftrack to balance the US vs German kit offerings.
Let's see....
All the best,
Chris.
